I got these latches thinking that they would work well for a project that I am working on. It's a large box with a hinged lid. The latches are very nice. Solid construction. Made from stainless steel. Spring loaded toggles. There is a lot to like about them. But I can't use them...at least as shipped. The problem is the catches. These are also solidly constructed, but they are needlessly larger than they need to be and, within the context of my project, this is a problem. The box is hip/thigh high (depending on your height and being as large as they are, there is the potential to catch a hip or thigh on them (not the kind of catching that you want from a latch catch) and the potential to damage clothing and skin. I think that the catches might be modified (or replaced) so that this isn't so much of a problem. I won't be using these latches on this project, but I will be keeping the latches because I think I will be able to use them in the future...but very likely, I will fabricate new catches or modify the existing catches before using them. So 5 stars for the latches, 1 star for the catches.

Quality product, solid metal, square and straight, finish was nice with no blemishes, hinge/spring works smoothly, latches as expected.
