I’ve got these on 3 of my bikes as a replacement for the original/vintage headset. Affordable, rock solid, and super smooth. Looks great too! What else do you need? I also really appreciate that the branding is minimal, so it doesn’t distract from the rest of the build. This is my go-to replacement headset for vintage bikes with a quill stem. Will continue to purchase these without hesitation.

These are great replacements. I used on two Cannondale 3.0 frames rather than scrounging for an okay condition vintage headset. Very shiny and smooth turning.

Great headset. Seals for both the lower and upper bearings and an o-ring seal for the quill. It was hard to find a new headset with a lowish stack height as a lot of the new ones (like velo orange) are over 40mm and won't fit old forks that have been cut down. I measured my stack height (fork steerer - head tube) at 32mm and this headset fit perfectly.

I ordered this headset for my Fisher Montare after the 1984 headset finally wore out. This one in size 26.4 mm fit bike perfectly and was super easy to install. I packed the bearings with waterproof grease and assembled it with the included rubber grease seals. My headset has not turned so smoothly in years! A great value and my go to 1 inch threaded headset.

Good solid STEEL headset. I'd rather put an extra 50 grams in here for something that'll last a lifetime. Only one caveat: do yourself a favor & get a set of loose ball bearings to replace the clipped ones. It'll move smoother & you'll never have to worry about indexing the cups or races.

Very nice piece. Solid construction and, like most every other review on this component here and elsewhere, it is a steal for the price. You won't be disappointed, especially if you are looking for a basic yet robust unit. The headset is nicely protected from the elements in ways not shown in the photo. There are two o-rings in the top locknut: one inside the top (where it meets the stem), and one at the bottom face where it contacts the spacer. There are two additional rubberized washers that sit between the bearings and their races to help thwart the ingress of nasties. However, this is not to say that the bearings are sealed, as they're not.I did find the keyed washer "bump" to be too big for the channel on my steerer, which required some light filing. This revealed that the part is solid chrome, and not simply a chrome finish.

I installed this on a Specialized Expedition touring bike built in 1983. I wanted a sturdy, high quality steel headset for durability on a heavily loaded bike. We ended up ordering this one because it had seals to help keep dirt and water out of the mechanism, it has a low overall height (stack height), the price was great, and of course, it was from a reputable company. The quality is surprisingly high. It is smooth as silk, and the fit and finish was quite good. It isn't as polished as most of the more expensive and lighter alloy headsets, but for it's intended purpose it is very nice. and for under twenty bills, it is amazing. From what I can find, it is the nicest steel headset on the market. You won't be disappointed. This will fit most quality road bikes built before the late 1990s, and this is the most common size by far.Notes:You will need to grease the bearings when installing. There wasn't much on them from the factory. The bearings are caged, but are not sealed bearings, However, there are plastic ring seals on the races that will keep most dirt out.The finish is shiny chrome or chrome-like, not polished like aluminum headsets. It looks very nice.
