Very disappointed in this product. You can see by the tip that snapped off, it did not get used or abused. Seems like the “steel” Timber Tuff used was defective. Definitely not deserving of the Tuff part of the company’s name. Too late to return to Amazon, so im out of luck it seems.

The Timber Tuff bark spud worked fine the first two times I used it but the metal blade came apart the third time it was used. I feel that it was defective since the handle which is the weaker part of the spud is intact but the steel blade is almost split in half. All three times the bark spud was used was on the same log and it wasn't under any unusual stress when it failed. I gave it three stars because it was quite sharp and worked well when it worked.

Using a draw knife to debark is fine but you have to cut through all the knots which is tough and you are also left with bark strips. With a spud you get under the bark and lift it away from the trunk. With practice you can remove it in one piece and use it for something else. Debarking makes wood dry faster and prevents many insect attacks as they lay eggs under the bark. This tool works fine but would be better with an edge cover to protect the edge and everything else.

Works as described Well made Just put your own edge on itVery helpful when debarking in my process as I debark lines along each log then use turbo nozzle and pressure washer for specific situations

Works ok. Very bad edge out of the box, required a bit of work to sharpen

I put this thing to work last weekend. I bought it to help remove bark with poison ivy roots left on it. I burn 15 cords of wood through Fall/Winter and get my logs from a local tree service. My last load had a tremendous amount of poison ivy vines growing on it and this was very concerning as I react negatively to the Urushiol oil found on all parts of poison ivy/oak/sumac. I pulled the vines off and scored around the bark with the “hairs” still on it. I then took the bark spud and went to work. This thing removed the bark easily. I was able to remove all the bark contaminated and then I simply bagged the loose bark and threw it away. Of course, I wore protection during this and wrapped the bark spud handle with plastic bags and duct tape. I then used a poison ivy soap to wash the tip. A week later and I have no rash and I can now section up and split the logs. This tool solved a conundrum for me, so next winter I won’t have to worry about carrying my wood in and getting a rash.

Good quality tool; comfortable to use. Depending on the season it will get covered in tree sap so clean after use.

This to is a handy debarker and a good tool to have around when splitting firewood and you want the bark removed so it will dry the wood faster. I would recommend.

Sorry, This is not heavy duty, or solidly constructed. I got barely two hours of use (on tough fir bark) before if loosened the handle to the point that the rivet fell out. Typical import quality. I fell for the price (half the price of a US made spud), but ended up returning it, and buying a genuine Peavey log spud elsewhere. Maybe OK on thin willow/aspen/alder bark, but not what I needed.
