This type of seal is very good. It has a lip on both sides, the out board side has a less important lip which keeps out road dirt and water which can cause the crucial inner lip to fail prematurely.I also like the outer steel ridge, you know just how far to press it in.

Perfect. Just don't forget the bushing as well. I had my transmission leaking. Had no idea there was a buching in there as well. So I had to wait till I got the bushing as well to finish repairs.

I have no doubt that this seal is a quality item, like other Timken products I have tried, but it does not fit my application, even though it clearly stated that it would fit my 1990 ford probe (3.0 v6 with an auto trans). This seal will not fit the trans axle seal on a 1990 ford probe lx.
