Cut the originals off, and attached new sockets with the Solder Seal Wire Connectors. I did put a little flux on the wires before soldering and shrinking. Used Heat Gun Kit, Ginour 1500W Digital Soldering Heat Gun. The heat gun is not available at this time but any heat gun should work.

Yep. Cut and replaced the 98 rear backup light socket. Weird the wires on are opposite sides of factory, but no matter... works great.

I bought these to customize them to fit in my Kubota tractor (switching from incandescent to LED) it was a non-typical installation so I can’t really fault the product or the manufacturer, I think they were slightly out of round and they wouldn’t quite fit into the socket on the tractor so I exerted considerable side force, they did go in and I was very happy but I would take it out and put them back in again just to make sure and like on the third try I heard a little tiny *snap* sound and I was like “oh no!”, my heart sank! I broke the glue joint, I would imagine these sockets would work very well if you all you have to do is just twist lock them into a standard receptacle but I was customizing them to fit in a non-typical installation. I think they work great and I’m very happy with them after I customized them but they did break and I had to glue them back together, not a big deal, I didn’t mind at all gluing them back together but I was very surprised and frightened I was going to get stuck with them.

I bought the 3156 Socket since the OEM part is discontinued for 1997 and 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJs. Just crimped wires and heat shrunk it on just fine. The rear turn signal works now. The Jeep uses 3157 bulbs but I just had to modify how it slid in to the tail light itself just by cutting some of the plastic with pliers. Used 12 AWG connectors (red) if that helps anybody.
