Had to return this because the rubber would shred against my crystal singing bowl. Got a silicone wand instead.

Nice quality rubber mallet. The soft pouch is very useful to make the mallet softer when tapping a tuning fork on it. Without the pouch, it’s sometimes too hard which causes harmonics with long low frequency forks.

The length is a little short. The rubber gets hot, I think, and starts to shed the longer you play. After an hour, I had some shedding. I wish the handles were wider and longer. They don’t make such a loud resonance when you hit them with rubber - I think that’s fine indoors. But outdoors, it doesn’t translate well.

The mallet is a good value for the money. It is light and easy to use. However, I marked it down due to a critical manufacturing flaw. The rubber end came with a molding ridge running all the way around (see photo). I tried playing my bowls in this condition and the sound changed noticeably when the ridge came into contact with the bowl, which is unacceptable. I was able to remedy it by carefully hand sanding the ridge down flush with the surrounding material using 150 grit sandpaper. Because it changed the appearance of the rubber, I continued sanding the entire ball for a uniform look. see photo. In all fairness, I feel the extra friction caused by the sanded surface actually improved the playability of the mallet, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3.

My puppy ate my previous crystal bowl wand and I was happy to get this product back into the mix after a period where I wasn't using the bowl anymore. The rubber mallets work very well in my experience, especially with bowls 10"-14". I'm grateful to TOPFUND and Amazon for getting me back into the zone.... great product!

This TOPFUND mallet creates a smooth, mellow, uniform toning sound. Not all similar-looking mallets can do that. Other mallets can grab and stutter, which is disconcerting during a meditation. For striking the crystal bowl, a suede, cylindrical striker produces the clearest, bell-like tone. A bowl that is struck by a rubber ball mallet has a muted sound. On the other hand, toning a bowl (rubbing it for a continuous tone) produces the best sound with a rubber ball mallet (toning with a suede, tubular striker can produce a scratchy sound). I always have both types handy when playing crystal bowls. The TOPFUND rubber ball mallet produces a great, smooth toning sound, whereas similar mallets might grab and stutter.

Arrived on time. As described. The top plastic bit looks rather cheap. It does the job

Very disappointed with this product right out of the packaging. First thing I noticed was black scuff marks all over the head of the mallet, then I noticed an indention in the rubber as shown in the first photo. The seam protrudes across the top of the rubber, none of the photos used to advertise this product show it being of such low quality. Not worth the money spent on what I received. There is no way to contact the seller regarding the product so I'm left with making a bad review in hopes they will see it and fix the problem.

It actually wasn’t as loud as the suede striker from the same company, but if you want a less abrasive sound, this is the mallet for you. It does, however, extend the note easier and the tone is just as loud as the suede :) I am glad I bought this one as well as having the suede , a lil variety never hurt :) beautiful product
