There are two things that I like about these chainring bolts. First, they are steel rather than aluminum, so you can really torque them tight. Second, they go off and on with standard metric Allen wrenches, and you do not need a special chainring bolt wrench.

Bought this chainring bolts as a quality truvativ branded option, but the quality received was very poor.A number of bolts had threads so loose they would push together, rather than tighten. Luckily I had some old bolts to get my bike back on the road again.

Needed to replace my large chainring so I thought I'd just replace both of them and the bolts, too (2x Shimano 105 with 5-arm spider). The "double steel" set seated perfectly where the originals were. A little synth AP grease to prevent squeaking and they torqued to spec with no issues. WAY easier to torque using 2 hex sockets than trying to hold in a slotted bolt with an awkward tool. The black color makes them disappear, too, which looks nice. Sram is quality stuff that should last a while, so to me, this is a very wise and affordable investment.

The fact that so many chainring bolts out there require the useless flat bolt tool that is nearly impossible to hold in place under torque is a scathing indictment of the skills of many a bike engineer. The Truvativ design makes it starkly clear how utterly incompetent the designers of these absurd alternatives are. If you have these other bolts on your bike, do yourself a favor and replace them with the Truvativ bolts (that is, once you manage to get them loose, since the slots are almost certainly partly stripped from the installation process). You will be dumbfounded that any other design ever existed.
