It has automatic shutoff. I was concerned it didn't because the wording is vague and when you ask the question the Amazon AI says it doesn't have it. I accidentally left it on when I went to work one day and had a heart attack but thankfully it has automatic shutoff. I had a previous diffuser that was getting stuck and I couldn't open it. My husband tried scrubbing it but it kept getting stuck. I wanted one that looks like it has a flame. This is so pretty and it lasts awhile. I love diffusing scent. It really relaxes me. I would recommend this diffuser.

When your boss always tells you that your work is fire, this should be the top of the list when it comes to holiday presents.This ultrasonic diffuser steps up the humidification and aroma game by adding in lights and sounds. It does really look like it's on fire (turning off the room lights enhances the effect). It's footprint is about 2 inches by 6 inches, so plan out desk space accordingly (it's also about 4 inches high so might not fit under other things). It comes with a USB-C cable for power (but it's only 3ft long, so you might need a longer cable). Depending on how dry your room is, it might need more regular fill ups (the room here was 42% humidity to start, and rose to 53% humidity after running - and the water lasted about 6 hours).I do have a few concerns with the device (that might not be an issue for other folks).1) The sealing on the seam inside of the tank (between the reservoir and the electronic components) seem a bit suspect, so I'd avoid filling it up to the max line (where the seam is) - it feels like the line between the tank and the electronics isn't that well sealed.2) The plastic lid does come off easily, so lifting it you need to remember to grab it at the bottom (not the sides, unless you want water to spill all over you desk).3) Although it's ultrasonic device is silent, it does cause the water inside to make a "splashing" sound, and so might be annoying to some folks. Also, the cover does a great job of containing the liquid, but be aware that lifting the cover off might also have some leakage due to the aforementioned splashing (so don't put it somewhere where you don't want to get wet).Other than the minor issues mentioned above, this is a really nice office humidifier/diffuser. It makes a great conversation starter, and just looks really cool.

This Ultrasonic Aroma Flame Cool Mist Aromatherapy Diffuser is pretty cool! When it's on and running it looks like red flames are rising above it, but, the flames are just mist so they don't get hot. The body of the diffuser also does not get hot. I like that! My daughter says that she thinks this diffuser looks like a single slice toaster.I am new to using diffusers. Maybe that's why I got confused when I first read the user instructions. To start, I understood that I needed to lift the top outer shell up and remove it from the base, which I did, but then, the instructions seemed to show that I needed to lift up and remove another piece from the top. When I went to remove the other part of the top as instructed, a smaller, flat oblong piece of plastic, it wasn't sitting inside the top of the base as the instructions seemed to show. It turned out that that piece of plastic was bolted inside the top of the outer shell, at least on the diffuser that I got. I had already removed that piece when I removed the outer shell. I thought that being directed to remove a piece of the diffuser that had already been removed was a bit odd.Next, I was confused about where to add the water. Inside the base there's an empty area that can hold water, and somewhere about halfway down there's a max water level mark, but, the instructions seemed to be directing that the water be added to a hollow plastic post inside the base. When I looked inside the hollow plastic post I could see electronic parts at the bottom. Mixing water and electronic parts seemed a bad idea. I just could not bring myself to pour water into the hollow plastic post. I felt like if I did I would be pouring water directly onto the electronic control board that sits in the bottom of the diffuser.I opted instead to add water to the area outside the hollow plastic post. Even though I did not add water to the area that the user directions seemed to be telling me to add it this little diffuser seems to be working fine.I used this diffuser once with sandalwood scented essential oil. Neither the essential oil nor this diffuser came with instructions about how much oil to add to the water. I had to guess. I just poured some in. I don't like having to guess.I was told that using essential oil diffusers can be dangerous for house pets. Because we have house cats I decided to stop using essential oils. I now use vanilla extract in this diffuser. I am still working on learning how much vanilla extract to add to this diffuser get the scent level I desire.Although I think that this Ultrasonic Aroma Flame Cool Mist Aromatherapy Diffuser is pretty cool, the user instructions are not that cool. Because no directions were given about how much oil to use in this diffuser, I am removing one star from my rating.Four stars!
