Upfront disclosure: I received this item through the Amazon Vine program for review. My wife and I drive small, fuel efficient hatchbacks. I needed a rack that I could put on either car in a pinch for carry longer loads, especially since we have been planning on picking up a couple kayaks. This rack is very simple in design. You have a pair of ballistic nylon rack with two high density foam sections and multiple metal rings for attaching tiedown ropes. Each rack has a long ballistic nylon strap that you run through the car and then attach to a metal cinch buckle. It can be strapped down rather firmly though you made need to leave a little play for closing the doors. I would not recommend this for a car with frameless windows because you would have to leave the windows down the entire time to prevent damage to the windows. For most cars like my 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth and my wife's 2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, it fits perfectly. Goes up in a couple of minutes and comes off just as easily. It's reasonably sturdy and performs well with lighter loads. I would not want to put something truely heavy on it because it could result in damage to the roof our cars which is bearing the actual weight. A trational rack is what you need in that case but for kayaks and skis it's perfect. Way less expensive than a more traditional custom roof rack and way easier to put on and take off for storage. Oh, and they included a bag that it all fits nicely into when you store them. Totally recommend this for skis and kayaks.

This is a great solution if you need to occasionally haul something like a kayak, skis, surfboard, or even a lightweight cargo container or duffel bag. The item does not identify a specific weight limit, so it does not seem suited for heavy objects. The straps are great, except for the metal clips. The metal clips are good for durability and strength, but they do have the potential to scratch your vehicle if you are not careful. The included carrying case is high quality and easy to use. It is possible to unpack, install, remove, and repack in less than 20 minutes. Perfect for a short trip, or if you don't want to keep the pads on your vehicle once you have arrived at your destination.

I am always calling someone with a truck when I need to pick up a big item from a store, bring something to the dump, carry my camping gear, etc. I have a small compact Corolla, so I dont have a lot of space. When I came across these strap on roof racks, I knew they would be perfect. They are thick and feel durable. They are easy to set up. Once setup, they are held in place really well. I have no worries about them breaking and flying off. I originally set this up for the review and didn't actually need them at the time. This is why I used a small step stool for my picture. I didn't feel like dragging out the big 20-foot ladder just to take pictures. I got a nice roof rack cage to pair with this kit. Now I can carry just about anything on my little car. I also got a little metal step to help me reach the roof that clips onto the door jam. If you are like me and want to move bigger items but don't have an SUV or truck, I suggest giving these a try. Even if you do have an SUV or truck and want extra padding on the roof along with your roof rack, these will work. These really turned my car into a whole other vehicle. I just made a dump run the other day and got rid of a couple bigger items that I wouldn't have been able to get rid of before these. They came with a storage / carry case and extra tie down straps. There are plenty of buckles to strap the straps to. It is very versatile. They are great.

I didn't know these existed but this was such a great find! My search for the right crossbars for my car was exhausting, and I never could find one that I was sure of. This roof rack worked perfectly on my Toyota Prius to be able to go to the store and buy a kayak finally. It fit perfectly and was easy to put on. It seems good enough quality that I just plan to use this from now on instead of getting crossbars. I'm sure it will last awhile so it's definitely worth it for the price!

Anything on top of the vehicle like racks creates drag and reduces fuel mileage. This is a low profile easy to install and remove system that works for carrying many things like kayaks but be aware it does not offer a lot of clearance like a regular rack so any protrusions may not clear the roof of the vehicle. There are plenty of straps/wratchets to cinch things down. I wish I had this when I needed to bring boards home from the store after we got rid of our truck. Everything seems very durable as far as quality but only time and real use will tell how they hold up. For now I see this as a simple solution to carry many things on top the vehicle that doesn't have a rack already. It also goes back into a tidy carrying case that can be stored about anywhere.

These pads are an upgrade from pool noodles for sure. The have several mounting options so they work with multiple vehicles. Easy install however I recommend double checking all connections and tighten cables after driving a few miles. Things can loosen up. The wind noise when nothing is on them is louder than I expected but not bad when my kayak is on top. Good solution.
