It is thinner than the original. The leak got worst after replacement. Bought original from Toyota and replaced it again which fixed leak. Unless they make this the same dimensions as the original I would avoid. But for $8 worth a try .

I don;t like how this gasket is packaged. All curled up into a balled mess. I was afraid that would put unnecessary stress and stretch the gasket in bad ways, which could cause a leak, which is probably the reason why you are buying this. Other gaskets I've purchased from amazon come with the gasket plastic wrapped against a cardboard backing. No bends or stretching. Just laid out neatly so its easy to recognize which gasket is which without having to read a tiny label. Despite the condition, it still the same dimensions and fits fine. We'll have to wait and see how long it will last.

At a great price, this is a rather nice quality gasket for the 2AZFE valve cover. However, these particular engines are becoming well-known for a strange problem of the valve cover itself being made of a very poor type of aluminum alloy that ROTS quickly, and with time, your valve cover can develop holes and large splits that allow oil to spill out all over. This odd self-destructive behavior of this alloy resembles tin; having a very fast, overnight decay rate, when in pure form. With that said, and thousands upon thousands of 1AZFE and 2AZFE toyota engines being wishes having this issue, you should DEFINITELY replace your valve cover at the same time, when you replace your valve cover gasket; being fair to the quality of this new gasket, and providing a fair environment for a proper clean and liquid-tight seal. The only flaw I found in this product, is a slight shortness in the extra material between each plug well ring seal, and a very slight lack of thickness in the little "grip" protrusions along the entire gasket, on both inner and outer sides. This has been seen on MANY gaskets, of all brands, and across a wide range of manufacturers, in my line of automotive technical work. The slightly too-short "in-between" portion, leaves the ring seals pulled in a slightly "cat eye" shape, and will easily disrupt the perfectly circular gasket mating form, once compressed during install. If the shape of the round ring seals is disturbed before mating the valve cover to the cylinder head, your gasket's seal is then compromised, and can lead to premature failure. This issue can also lead to the gasket popping out before it is mated, and ultimately fail immediately because of becoming dislodged from its valve cover groove.Be mindful of this ever-so-slight shortcoming of the gasket moulding processes, and do yourself a favor... APPLY A DAB OF E6000 adhesive to the important, affected areas of the gasket sides, where it may try to pull itself out of the groove during installation. E6000 is very good stuff (highly elastic and resilient, but also sets up fairly quick) and can set up to a nice tacky consistency in a short time of 60 seconds. It will hold things neatly in place so that you can achieve a squarely-placed gasket down in correct position and fully seal everything the right way.One more tip to remember: a giant cotton swab can be dipped in acetone to make easy work of gasket surface prep on the cylinder head gasket mating surface. It will easily and nearly remove most all varnish and gooey oil deposits, but also grab any sand particles that lurk in the corners; carrying them safely away from falling into the valve train.Overall, I am pleased with this valve cover gasket being such a nicely pliable material (I THINK it consists of molded silicone due to how "noodle-y" it feels and the lack of rubber odor it exhibits when rinsed with water) and the cleaner packaging in a plastic pouch instead of a cardboard package. Cardboard packaging tends to deposit lots of cellulose fibers onto the gasket, which easily interfere with seating the gasket face against the clean cylinder head surface. The plastic bag was mostly free of any contaminants.Five stars for a good seal, but one wobbly handed "eh" for the slightly too-short webbing between the plug well ring seals.

I agree with some other reviewers that it should have been shipped flat, but it was still very simple to install. I did have to re-seat it once because the valve cover knocked it out of place while I was putting the cover back on. The second time it seated perfectly. I agree with the other user who recommended E6000, that would have made it easier.
