This comfortably holds 50 albums in a mix of double/book style and single albums. The construction is thoughtful and steps for assembly are simple, as the manufacturer includes a sharp punch tool to make pilot holes for the small screws. This is likely not done at the factory to allow some forgiveness for how you place the metal grates at front and back to ensure they better line up than arbitrary factory holes which may not be as precise given the bracket welds and room for error. Rather than just put them there as some might, leaving it to you allows for tighter tolerance in final assembly to ensure a snug fit. There are some rough edges, but overall nothing to gripe about. That brings me to price. The price of $31 for a box you put together is a bit much, but I'll note there's a 30% coupon that brings it down significantly to the $20 range, making it reasonable and a good deal.Sure, I could build an ugly box out of scrap wood (good luck finding a wood peach crate these days), but this actually looks nice and has handles, so I'll call it a good deal and recommend it if you're looking for a record crate/display that looks nice.

The assembly process can be a bit frustrating, given that the instructions are just poor quality images (no words), and the tools that they provided are painful to use - they are very thin, have sharp plastic edges, and fell apart halfway through. The materials feel pretty cheap and flimsy on their own, but the final assembled product is decent. The wood splinters easily, and I had to file down a couple dangerously sharp points on the metal. Both the wood and metal are quite soft. I'm not a fan of the cheap shiny plastic handles either, but in the end, the assembled box doesn't look too bad. I would use caution moving it around with too much weight, but as stationary storage and a decorative display, it doesn't disappoint.

It came nicely and securely packaged. It was pretty easy to assemble - few screws attaching the sides to the bottom, then smaller screws are used to attach the tabs of the metal lattice back and front. On the whole note terribly difficult. It's very solid. The weak bits are likely the tabs on attaching the sides, they've a bit of give that might wear at them over time depending on how the metal ages, but they may also give the thing a degree of flexibility preventing other more catastrophic breaks down the line, I don't know. It's quite pretty, I love the cut outs - its so crisp? And the wood has a beautiful stain. The sort of deep red-brown that's just gorgeous. I might eventually wax/seal it to protect it - the surface seems a bit unfinished, I assume intentionally. The handles each have a two-piece plastic liner that snap into each other, so functionally there's a bit of give or shifting when you pick it up because they aren't tightl;y fitted though they are secure. The plastic seems high quality enough and I was able to safely unsnap and snap-back the pieces without damaging them. It's a wonderful size. Keeps my cardigan in case it gets chilly, my current reading material or sketch/art supplies, "personal" items for evening relaxtion - it keeps them all nice and neat, easily to hand. I really do think its just the perfect size. Great quality, incredibly useful, I love it.

This is so pretty. I do wish that the tads to screw in the metal mess were on the inside instead of the outside.

So confession, I didn't get this for records- I wanted it to store my potatoes in. It is so pretty, and has great air-flow, so it is going to be really ideal for that purpose. I love the color of the wood, which is a deep reddish cherry brown with black, and it has a lot of character and depth. It came in a flat box, and it needed to be assembled. This was pretty straight forward, and they give you everything you need to do it. It came with a little screwdriver, and an awl to make your own pilot holes for the tiny screws that secure the black metal mesh parts to the wood. I wanted to see if I could put it together easily with just the tools provided, and it relatively easy to do. The wooden pieces connect together with larger screws, and the pre-drilled holes were aligned perfectly. Everything fit together square and snug and once built it is a very sturdy, functional and attractive basket. As it was bigger than I expected, I tried to give some scale by taking pictures of it by my size 8 women's boots, and putting my 15 inch laptop in it for scale. I hope this helps.
