The Violin Bow 4/4 Full Size Brazil Wood Classic Ukraine Ukrainian Model has been a fantastic addition to my musical arsenal. This bow is beautifully crafted, with a stunning Brazil wood stick and an ebony nickel frog that adds a touch of elegance to its design. The AAA natural horsehair is of exceptional quality, producing a rich and full-bodied sound that I've been able to coax out of my violin. The weight and balance of the bow are perfectly suited to my playing style, allowing me to produce a wide range of tonal colors and dynamics. I'm just a beginner, but I needed a bow for my violin and this one makes sound. From what I can tell so far it seems to be an okay bow. I have a lot to learn before I can say if it's for more than just beginners, but it makes sound and feels sturdy. Fit perfectly in my case.

Sounds great and is probably a bit overkill since I'm a beginner, but I'm enjoying playing now for sure.

I have used a wide range of bows throughout my life, including five figure bows during my competition days. This is not that - this is a good quality handmade bow for a bargain price.Pernambuco is getting harder to come by, but it is the desired wood for bows for most violinist. While I am not sure if this is truly Pernambuco, since there have been reports of Brazilwood being passed off as Pernambuco in bargain bows, the wood does seem high quality and have the right type of grain and color. The bow came packed protectively in two plastic tubes, which was nice, since I have received bows in a single tube that were clearly banged up. The bow came out of the packaging very straight, which is great. The gold wire wrap is very well done and adds a little interesting texture that makes it easy to meter where your hand is without looking, since the wrap varies in texture up the length of the wire. The frog seems solid. The mother of pearl insert in the frog is not very colorful but is fine. There is also no decorative eye on the frog.Overall the build quality was hard to differentiate from similar or just a little more pricey bows, except at the tip. I noticed that the ivory that held the horsehair to the tip of the bow had some uneven work. It is difficult to tell if the glue was just smeared unevenly or if the surfaces between the wood and ivory cap are carved unevenly. So far, it does not seem to impact the functionality and is mostly cosmetic, but I am concerned that when I get the hair replaced, it may make it harder for the ivory cap to be remounted; I actually had another, much more expensive bow that developed a problem like that where the cap would pop off, making the hair fall out.Despite that, the bow is a very good deal for a Pernambuco bow, based on materials and overall build. Each bow feels a little different, even the same model of bow can feel different from another bow in the same model line due to wood and being handmade. To me, this bow feels a little more tip heavy; some bows are very balanced where the pinky does little work, but this bow seems to engage the pinky more. However, that means that doing heavy attacks with this bow is a little more effortless, but doing more delicate work is a little more challenging.

I'm not an expert so I don't have a lot of insight into the ease of use and sound quality. I ordered this for my nephew who is getting started on the violin. He seems to think it's good. For my part, it is built well. All the strands were intact and the bow itself seem sturdy. I have no compaints.

Well made, and works well (just remember your rosin!) Looks very nice as well. Recommended.

Years ago, when my mom died, I inherited her 1940s-era student violin and it promptly went in a closet until recently. As a multi-instrumentals, I'm game for trying to play anything, but I have no experience with violin. I put some new strings on it, got the intonation somewhat in the ballpark, and rosined up the bow to give it a try. I sounded horrible, of course! But I quickly discovered that putting a ring modulator on the violin put me into Krautrock territory and I was in heaven. Is this a good bow for the money? I have no idea, but it was functional--unlike the 80 year old bow the violin came with--and I'm making cool avant garde sounds for the electronic music album I'm working on right now. So at a minimum, it's good for absolute beginners like me!

A good backup bow for the price. I haven't played it long enough to perhaps get used to it, but my first impression was that it doesn't feel as balanced as my old bow. It feels a bit weighty in the farther away wood bow end, and my hand wants to slip up the bow while playing. Don't go by me though... I am a sloppy fiddler, and I never trained myself to hold the bow in just one position! My old bow just feels lighter weight, and I don't struggle to hold on as much. I do have another bow that is a lot like this one, and I do use it, so it is good to have a few on hand. This bow seemed to rosin up well... quicker and better than I thought it would. The hairs are tight enough, without having to over tighten. Another reason I decided to go ahead and get this is because both my other bows have been attacked by bow mites, and it will cost me more than the cost of this bow to get them rehaired! This will do just fine! It is made well, and it is straight.
