The leather is too thick. It won't fit thru the scroll of my f style nor will it pass under the strings at the headstock. I don't like using shoestring to attach my straps. That's why I ordered this strap. For me it's worthless.

The leather was so thick that It would not fit into the scroll of my F style mandolin. I sent it back. It looked like very good quality but no good if it won't fit and hold the instrument. Would be good for an F-style mandolin that has a wider spacing around the scroll.

I should had paid better attention I didn’t realize it had a buckling system, if your not very very very carful the buckle could damage your mandolin, but other then that I love the blind color matches my mandolin, and I love the soft leather, only think I wished was the with made a slip piece to go over buckle or made it to where you can extend the strap or shorten it with out buckle. I only have two choices be very very very extra carful when putting my mandolin with strap into hard case, or take strap off each time and that gets aggravating I may just take to some where and have a leather sleeve to go over it made for it.

As a professional, performing musician, I think nothing of spending $100+ for Guitar-Bass straps.... They’re considered part of my stage clothing. This also means buying the best. The majority of my straps have come from Levy’s and Perris Leather Co.Having only recently discovered the Walker & Williams brand, I bought several for guitars and basses. While not quite up to the quality and “fanciness” of other brands, I’ve been satisfied. I use them primarily for rehearsal and at-home.Naturally when I decided to update my F-mandolin straps, I turned to the same three companies (cited above) for quality, genuine leather, adjustable straps.Walker & Williams seemed to offer the best choices on Amazon. While nothing fancy (conchos, tassels, bling, etc. nowhere to be found), they offer the most well-made, elegant-looking GENUINE LEATHER straps, so I purchased 2: one tan & one black.While I still believe I got the best quality currently offered on Amazon, I was rather disappointed with Walker & Williams’ interpretation of “soft, premium, top-gRain leather”.As another reviewer previously noted, these straps look & feel like PU/VINYL! “Pleather” is another word that comes to mind.Upon receipt, the straps have the distinctive aroma of leather, but are definitely sub-par re: the hide quality I’ve come to expect from this company.Otherwise, the strap is well constructed. Neatly sewn seams in a pleasing contrasting cream coloured thread. Sturdy buckles, yet not heavy... nor do they “flip”, painfully digging in.They’re slightly wider & more comfortable than other mando straps offered here, and fit on the end pin & scroll of F-style mandos beautifully. I use my straps on Loar and Gretsch F-mandos.The reverse-side is smooth, that is as smooth as unsealed Leather goes, and “shedding” at a minimum. Most of my stage clothing is black, some w/sequins.. I’ve had little problem with “leather lint”.One huge item on my “Wish List” is for strap designers to manufacture straps with solid-colored (dyed) black reverse sides. They will undoubtably receive accolades from the legions of performers who, like myself, regularly deal with the nuisance of “leather lint”! Yes, I do own straps with smooth leather backing, but they are also slippery, and on occasion one prefers “grippy”, unfinished -yet “lint-less”- leather, or at least lint in a dark colour!Given the selection available on Amazon, and the remoteness of the Northern Rockies town where K live... This strap is made with quality leather and is well crafted. However, if, like me, you are not too tall (I'm 5'4"), then the strap is too big. I love the product but had to take it to a local leathercrafter to shorten.
