I've only used this saddle bag once, and was disappointed with the results.The leather 'strings' tore when I tried to tie it to the back of my saddle, which was surprising.If this bag is 'stuffed' with things -- and distributed evenly -- it will probably do what you expect it to do. Otherwise, it is going to shift & move around.I will keep using it -- once I figure out how to have stronger tie-on strings, and will take care with how it is packed.The concept is good -- the tie-on strings leave a lot to be desired.

This is a great, not too small, not too big cantle bag. It's just the right size for me. It holds the head rope, halter, two water bottles, lunch and still has room for something extra.

I always had Cantle bags but this one has a good size, the other were bigger but always slide on the side this one is more study and the material seems strong, hopefully it will last longer.

This is a medium weight, hardy, straight forward cantle bag. It holds the "10 essentials" for safety when on the trail and then some. I added beefier ties, as these aren't as heavy duty as I like. They might be fine, I just didn't like the lack of heft there - but the bag is just right.

I chose this size cantle bag from amazon because I don't go on a trail ride for days at a time just about 6 hours and I did need some basic supplies for the just in case, this bag is perfect those incidentals, and not huge, could possibly put a rolled up nylon jacket in there too..but for me this fits the bill. the zipper is placed more on the outside of the bag so its very easy to unzip. The bag fits snugley behind the seat and is secured with leather ties, doesn't bounce if I trot or canter.I don't carry my water bottle in it, I use a separate one in front on the pommel..and my cell phone on me.
