Newer style brackets are a bit stronger.Installation isn't an issue if you do it like this: 1. Remove all three body mount bolts. 2. Attach the mounting brackets but do not fully tighten them. 3. Attach the bar to the loose mounting brackets and tighten the brackets to the brackets. Tighten the body mounts and you are done.Jump up and down, then proclaim you are great!

These fit my old step mounts so install only took like a half an hour! Polished stainless looks so much nicer!

I shopped around for some running boards/side steps for our truck & wanted ones that attached to the frame, rather than the rocker panels. I found these on Amazon & they looked to be ones that I would put on the truck, especially in the application I wanted as we could have bought them from the same company in either version. While the instructions at first seemed a little bit confusing, it was probably just me not being able to picture their wording, when I got down to look at what they were explaining, it all fell into place. I did them myself & even though the extension I had for the ratchet & torque wrench was just a little bit shorter than what I should have had, everything went together great. I got both sides done in a little over an hour from start to finish & they look great. I definitely recommend them to anyone & want to advise anyone looking for them to put on their truck, you will not be disappointed! For the record, I am not some young kid full of bravado, but a 60+ man that is crippled with arthritis & such, so if I found it easy, you should too!!

I bought Westin Nerf Bars 16 years ago when I bought a brand new F-150. At the time, these bars came with a life time warranty--however, as most Americans would have, the receipt has been lost in those 16 years. These step bars are completely rusted. . When I called to talk to someone in customer service about it, I was very rudely told there was no way this product ever had a lifetime warranty and how could I expect it to last more than 16 years? The customer service representative was incredibly rude, but perhaps worse than this rudeness, he implied that your products are not made to last. How can you sell a product with a lifetime warranty, not honor the warranty, and have a representative of your company imply that the product is not made to last more than 5 years? Look at the pictures of how horribly this product lasted. Warning to others--do not buy a Westin product with a lifetime warranty and expect the warranty to be honored!!

These are some of the best nerf bars on the market today. They are a little bit more expensive than some of the same no name brands but the quality speaks for itself. I put these on my 2004 extended cab Silverado and they were extremely easy to install. I did use an impact wrench to remove the body bolts from the frame but this was only done because the impact was so much faster than hand wrenching the four inch body bolts. I was able to install these without any help in about 30 minutes from start to finish. It would have been easier to have had an extra hand hold the other end of the bars up. To get around this i bolted the center mount first and then just used it as a swivel to align the bolts that connected the bars to the brackets. Be sure to mount everything and not tighten it until after everything is mounted. Tighten the nerf bars to the brackets first then tighten the frame bolts. Doing this allows you about half an inch to an inch room to pull the bars out away from the truck or in towards the frame. This is another feature about these nerf bars that is unique. The adjustment gap on the brackets is great. I chose to pull mine as far out as possible because i have wider tires on my truck. After instillation the bars sit just below the frame rails of the truck. I was concerned about this because i did not want to risk them being too low and dragging on something when on rougher terrain. If you are considering nerf bars i would definitely go with these. You will not be disappointed.

Quality Product. Sturdy step. Middle support is a plus. Very nice Stainless finish that should last a long time. Water / Salt is able to drain out of ends which should contribute to a long life. Product is great although as I have read in other reviews, the wrong product was shipped the first time. Return was hassle free and the replacement was received the next day.

We, had to send the 1st set back for damage. Looked like FED EX damaged the 1st time - dent in one of them where package was damaged. Ordered another set the 2nd had a small dent -we can live with looks like it came from the straps that they put around the package. They did bubble wrap the product but needs to protect more where they put the straps or don't tighten as tight as they do. We love the look of them and they went on easy. Just wish they didnt have the small dent only on one of them, but like I said we decided to live with it and not mail them back again. Pretty sure most people won't notice it unless they really looked closely at them. Just upsetting not to have them perfect when you first get them.

One side of the steps is great. The driver's side, however, has not been so lucky. The thick black plastic part that you actually step on is cracked and broken and I would have expected it to have lasted longer than a year before tearing up.
