After months of searching for the perfect running boards for my 2018 Toyota 4Runner TRD, I found these. They look fantastic, and the design is truly top-notch. I'm very pleased with my choice and confident they'll last. I'm planning to keep my truck for about ten years, so I trust these will hold up without any rust issues.

Bought this set for the wife's new Toyota 4Runner. Installation was easy. The fit is solid and looks really good on the Toy.

The instructions were not clear and somewhat difficult for one person to follow so we ended up watching a iTunes video and we just wish they were a little bit longer on each end for our four runner

After looking at over a hundred styles, I chose these due to their rugged looks. Angled at front and back, they look better than the squared off styles, in my opinion. They arrived 3 days after ordering and upon opening the box, they were heavily protected with soft and harder foam packing. Nicely done Westin. I’m 62 and was a little concerned with installing them myself but I have to say, this was a breeze. I do not have a lift, so I was on my back doing the install. Instructions were pretty good but I watched a YouTube video of a similar install, which was helpful. Although I didn’t do it, you may want to lay the running board on the ground next to your vehicle to see exactly where the brackets line up with the plastic grommets you will pop out on the vehicle to expose the threaded bolt holes. The plastic grommets pop out easy. Brackets fit perfectly and running boards fit perfectly to brackets. The running boards are heavy! I had my wife steady one end while I attached it to the bracket on the other end. I used the cardboard container they came in to lay on. Other than a little grease and a sore back ( which I get when I do about anything) it really was a breeze. It’s nice to buy a product that is truly easy to install for the average person who doesn’t do this kind of work for a living.pop out were

I purchased these running-boards for a 2020 Toyota SR5 premium. They are very nice looking and pretty heavy. The install was harder than I expected. The directions could be more detailed. I installed one Running-board incorrectly Because I did not see that the front support bracket bolted on a different side than the rear 2 supports. This is the detail in the photo I included. I think a few more descriptions in the installation directions would make these easier to install. I am very happy with them overall.

First off, let me tell everyone that I am in no way a "Pro" on vehicle steps, running boards, rock sliders, etc. This is the second pair of steps I have owned and the first pair on a 4Runner. Now, let's get started with the review. These were installed on a 2020 4Runner Venture.Packaging: A+These things are heavy, probably 40+ lbs per side. That being said, Westin packed these steps in tight with all sorts of foam padding (see pics). They even glued the hardware box to the bottom portion of the outer packaging to keep it from moving around. The foam wrapping used on the steps themselves can be re-purposed for workplace padding, meaning you could use it to cover the asphalt parking lot of the condominium complex you live in if your situation matches my own.Build Quality: B+The materials used for building the steps all feel rugged and extremely solid. The welds are clean and the powder coating is even. The bolts and other hardware are heavy duty and should last through my ownership of the vehicle. The tops aren't as abrasive as sand paper but still have a good grippy feel to them. However, the silicone job used to secure and protect the step surface from vibrations had some areas where the wet silicone spilled out and dried, pretty minor to me but would have been easy to clean up at the time of application.I also have concerns about the rubber plugs used on what are probably called "weep holes" on the ends of the steps. There are 6 per steps, 3 on each end, for the main pipes. They are most likely used to expunge built up condensation in the pipes. The rubber plugs come out fairly easy and look to be the type of rubber that dry-rots after a short time in the elements. Time will tell with how well they hold up, but I don't have high hopes for them staying attached too long. The addition of bolt on attachment/support structures also introduce more failure points in the addition of more bolts that could come loose over time, I will make an effort to check on these additional bolts, in addition to the bolts used for attaching everything to the body of the vehicle, periodically to make sure they aren't coming loose. Loctite would add peace of mind in this scenario.Instructions: CThe instructions are fairly straight forward, and I am glad that they included pictures of the actual vehicle these steps are meant for (my other set just had generic truck drawings). My main issue in this department is that it seems that the middle support structure, meaning the piece that connects the step to the body of the vehicle was either mislabeled or the placement of the bolt holes changed ever so slightly with the 2020 model update (which I highly doubt). What I ended up having to do was switch the driver and passenger middle support structures. That allowed me to line up the brackets on the steps with the support structures perfectly on both sides.Overall: AThese steps are solid and will last a good while based on my initial impressions. Once tightened down, they do not move with my 200 lb self jumping on all parts of them. You may need a hand holding them up while you attach them to the support structures, but I was able to get them installed by myself relatively quickly after I figured out the middle support structures needed switching. They probably won't serve as true rock sliders, but I have no worries of them holding up to the rogue tree limb that might pop up and hit the bottom of the vehicle.I chose these over the very similar Tyger Auto Star Armor steps just because the "Bro Stars" were a little ridiculous to me and also presented an opportunity for me to catch a toe in if I used them while barefoot (I scuba dive so I often have to get dressed/undressed at the car and use the steps to keep off of the ground with wet feet). I also like the entire top of the steps being solid, meaning I can utilize the whole step to access the roof for cleaning and roof rack stuff.I will update this review if I find any more faults, but overall I am very pleased with my purchase and Westin offers nothing for a positive review, so the above review is completely honest. Hope this helps other 4Runner owners!
