I always HATE these non-specific Amazon product descriptions that are not detailed to what a product is made of. Case in point, the description on this Whirlpool replacement dryer lint trap was generic and banal;Product Description - This is a genuine replacement part. The quote "I got has a fine wire mesh instead of the fabric mesh that the original." cause my click to buy. However I received a fabric mesh screened unit.I can't click the "Report Incorrect Product Information" link because the generic product description posted above does not tell you anything about the unit's manufacturing components. What I got fits the lack luster description, so the only take away is that yes I got exactly what the description said, a genuine replacement part. The exact design, fabric mesh in a rigid plastic frame. I will in future purchases avoid generic descriptions and not accept reviewers experience as being the guaranteed quality experience for all purchasers of this product on Amazon.Bottom line: It works as designed, but again a bit disappointing nevertheless.

I've been using this for about a month and have to say that it works as good or better than the original. My dryer is about 24 years old and I didn't want to spend a lot for a new lint screen since the dryer may "pass on" any day. I was a little skeptical about this one due to the price being a lot less than some I had seen and the picture is not that great.The filter I received is exactly like the original except the color is a little different and the actual screen is made of a stronger appearing material. It even has the exact same lettering molded in.No need to pay more in my opinion and experience.

A mouse pushed his way into my dryer vent cap on the outside wall, then followed the ductwork into the dryer itself. He somehow made it past the blower wheel; I guess he was small enough to fit. What stopped him was my lint screen -- so he chewed a hole in it. Then he was stopped by the grille within the dryer; he couldn't get past that. Now I've constructed a wire basket around my exterior vent cap, but unfortunately I installed it with the mouse inside! I dunno how to get him out; every time I try something, he dashes back inside where I can't reach him.Oh, yeah, the product. This lint screen is actually BETTER than the original; the frame is basically the same but the screen itself is a very fine metal mesh rather than the plastic the original was. It's not quite as taut, but that's no problem.There is one minor difference. On the frame on the outside at the upper corners in the photo, there is a rib on each side about 2" long that wasn't there on the original. On my dryer, this makes no difference, it still fits fine -- but perhaps it might cause issues on other dryers. If so, it shouldn't be too difficult to cut it off with a Dremel or perhaps even a penknife.

I have owned a Maytag Dryer Model LDG312 series 07, for 15 to 20 years. The washer died years ago but this dryer just keeps on working. When the screen finally tore after years of use I went to the Maytag website to find a replacement. After much searching, I eventually found the part number because Maytag provides pictures against a grid screen so you can see the size of the item. However, they wanted $28, plus shipping. When I checked Amazon, I found several screens at various prices and picked this one because of a combination of price and free shipping of $12.86.The part is exactly as pictured and fits perfectly. The part was provided by BUY-IT-NOW-STORE on Amazon.com who provided prompt delivery.

The lint filter on my Maytag dryer model # LDE512 cracked completely through on the left side (after the screen tore in two places).Maytag wants just under thirty dollars for this part (before shipping), and even third-party parts websites average from 12-24 dollars (before shipping).Checked here, and lo! This is a compatible replacement for this model number (among many others).It arrived quickly, adequately packaged.Putting it into the filter screen slot, it went in fine 4/5 of the way and stopped! As though it were too wide at the top. D'oh!! Not wanting to force it/break it, I removed it. And cursed.And went to my local parts store, where they assured me they had the correct replacement, for 12.99. Bought one, thinking it looked suspiciously similar. But what do I know,right. Alas - same part. Cursed again.Then it occurred to me that a) I might have been wrong before, and b) now I had two, so what could it matter if I broke one?Walked back to the laundry room with the orginal replacement, from Amazon, in hand. Crammed it in there, and when it 'stuck', pushed harder. And it went right in. Sigh.So now I have two, which is all right, I guess. And now I know that I could trust this seller to start with, and the product was great all along.I cannot say whether the replacement will hold up better than the original. It IS an exact replica,except for the color, with the same type of thin,poorly attached 'fabric' mesh and very thin plastic framing along the sides. This IS NOT a flaw of this seller's product, but rather a poor design on Maytag's part. Perhaps buy more than one..If yours is broken, this is a fine replacement.
