This is an easy part to replace on your dishwasher. My only complaint is that the one I replaced just over a year ago quit working a month after the 12 month warranty.Still, it’s cheaper to keep replacing it than to buy a new dishwasher.Hopefully this one we replaced today will last a little longer than 13 months.

Fit perfectly on my KitchenAid KDTE254ESS Dishwasher. Marked old unit before removal to ensure new one is properly tightened. Was able to perform swap from the toe kick area as others have mentioned. Vacuuming out water from inside filter sump left only a little bit of water once pump was removed. Easy Peazy!

bought to replace pump on 6 year old kitchenaid dishwasher where the existing pump developed a pretty loud groan during operation. The old pump was still pumping out all the water and upon inspection there was no blockage in the drain line and no physical damage to the visible pump parts. The new pump appears to be genuine Whirlpool, with all the same stamp markings as the old pump. The new pump is pretty quiet -- likely as quiet as when the dishwasher was new. Install was easy and accessible by taking off the kickplate. I did make an initial mistake of not fully turning the new pump into place --- an intermediate turn results in what might feel like a secure fit but it still must be turned slightly more clockwise to fully seat. If I were to do it over I would take a pic of the pump in place before removing -- the orientation of the electrical plug will give you a good reference point for whether the pump is fully seated. Overall, great price for an OEM pump and this is an easy DIY job.

Upon opening our dishwasher, I found that water had not drained out of the bottom of the dishwasher as it normal would have. I assumed the bottom filter screen may have been blocked but after removing it, I found it to be in good order. My next thought was that there was a blockage in the drain line somewhere but after checking, I found all drain lies to be clear. I then thought the dishwasher drain pump was the culprit. I disconnected and removed it and found that the dishwasher drain pump was missing 8 out of 9 impellers.I was amazed that so many impeller blades had broken off. I guess over time they broke off one by one. Because the dishwasher has a screen nothing big could have passed through the screen to do that much damage. It seemed that when all but two impeller blades remained, the pump was able to evacuate the water that accumulated at the bottom of the dishwasher during a normal cycle but when one blade remained on the pump, the water also remained.I searched Amazon and found this replacement part, installed it and now my dishwasher is now draining without any issues. Before you take off the old unit, be careful to look at it's position relative to the grey locking tabs on the bottom dishwasher assembly. When you install the new unit, you have to tighten it just right. It can't be too loose or too tight.

My Kitchenaid dishwasher would get to the drain part of the cycle and stop working. I reset and restarted, same thing, fill, wash for 5 min and stop. The drain pump is in the front and easy to get to under the washer. It was making a funny noise and not running. I replaced it with the Amazon unit and presto, working again. No tools required, pump is oring sealed and pops off the pump casing with a twist, disconnect the electrical connector. I did find a bit of debris in the pump, it might have been jammed, but for $53 and 20 minutes of my time, just went with the new pump. If you read this before you buy and have the same symptoms, check the inside of the pump casing first. Pump casing is part of the washer bottom/tub, pump-pump impeller easily separates to perform fix.
