Bought this because my original 50a65-475 control board had a blown resistor. Read instructions, installed this just as the old board was installed. With this board, the draft fan would start up right away along with the blower fan which should have a delay. About 10% of the time the ignitor would light up and ignite the burners and work for a few cycles, but then the vents would be blowing cold air next morning and the ignitor not lighting at all. Had a licensed HVAC guy come out to look and he was as confounded as I was, but he ruled everything else out and said it has to be the board is bad. 2 stars instead of 1 for ease of return. Ordering another board, hopefully will have better luck.

This came in a sealed White-Rogers box along with instructions (which were basically unnecessary, since this was a direct replacement for my old board). The old board gave me an igniter error code, even though the igniter ohmed out fine. Nevertheless I had replaced the igniter…only to get the dreaded 4 flashes of an open limit, even though I had good continuity across the entire limit circuit. So I ordered this new board, got it the following day, and installed it in about 20 minutes. It comes with the new plastic mounting clips already on the board, so I could just break the old ones off, and then I installed the new board and replaced the wires one at a time (even after taking pictures just in case). All terminals were in exactly the same spot as the old board, so it was a piece of cake. I set the 3 DIP switches to match the old board and it worked perfectly when I called for heat. Unfortunately, I have found HVAC companies in my area to be ridiculously priced and sub-par in their performance, so I go the DIY route when possible. Of course, it helps being a retired mechanical engineer…

The control board in my central ac/heat unit literally burned up on a Saturday evening filling my home with smoke and the smell of burning electronics. The board was located in the blowersection of the furnace hence the smoke and stink throughout the house. There are several boards to choose from varying in price and buyer satisfaction ratings. This is one of the highest priced ones and has 5 star satisfaction ratings. I installed it myself and my system functions normally again. Amazon shipped it to me as fast as a local service company could get one on Monday when the supply houses opened up.

Keep in mind the fact that the standard control board uses a 120 volt ignitor and the upgraded board uses an 80 volt ignitor, if you don’t replace your 120 volt ignitor with the 80 Volt Silicone Nitrite ignitor the new 80 volt board will not provide the power needed to make the ignitor glow. Your furnace will not work.

Wire for wire and connector swap and 20min later was up and running from a fried old board! Just make sure you get the right board (literally printed on the old board) and label or take pics and make sure you wire correctly. You will know it's your board that failed when you remove and most likely a black burn mark or even hole on the back! Just because it's blinking does not indicate functional board!! It is simply getting 24v power.
