I have nothing to compare this to except reviews of other like products. Here is why I chose this. The Whiteside creepers seems to have much higher weight ratings than others. Out of the box, this thing is sturdy. The frame is stiff. Kneeling on the pad in the middle of its longest span caused to yield a detectable amount but not much. I'm 177 pounds. Lots of other creeper reviews report creeking and cracking support boards but this is solid. Oh yes, and the frame drop around my sholder area does make a comfort difference with this style of creeper. The foam cushion is dense enough to support my weight without hitting bottom and the vinyl seems fairly heavy. It is comfortable. I was laying on it listening to music and almost fell asleep.Made in the US, I expected to find stickers all over it to that effect but nothing. The wheels were embossed with the Whitesides logo so I think they are at least in control of their componenets. The box it came in was branded Buckeye Boxes from Columbus, OH. So yes, It's all from Ohio and made in the US. And it looks like US engineering, as in componenets that do the job but nothing fancy or good looking. It's nice to have something made in the US. I just hope Whitesides treats their workers well.Wheels roll well, turn well and seem durable. And they are stamped USA in addition to the Whiteside logo. I read lots of reviews of other creepers where the bearings were getting ejected out of the wheel assembly and on the floor. I don't think that will happen with these wheels. And if the wheels do wear out, they do sell spares. Imagine that, US based support. My only concern is the mechanism that holds the head rest up, seems a bit cheesey. The design applies torque to the first cross member. That in itself is fine but the hole the bracket goes through is going to be the weak spot. If I were depending on this creeper to make money, I might look for something better. There are more sophisticated ways to do this. But for me, it will last forever. One cool thing about the mechanism is that it holds the headrest such that it is not flopping around when carrying it. It's features like this that make interacting with it satisfying. So this is priced at about 4x what the cheapest ones are. If I only needed one use, I might have gone the cheap route. I do plan on using this regularly, for many years and this actually works well and gives me confidance that it can do the job.

The creeper I bought was an expensive item and for a short while, I was happy with it. I bought it primarily for the tilting headrest because, as I've gotten older it is increasingly uncomfortable to hold my head up in order to see what I need to look at under a car. However, soon after I bought it, the padded back support on either side of the center frame rail got squishy, which allowed the bottom of the back support board to drag on the ground. I finally got around to seeing what had happened and I found the manufacturer had used what appears to be low density 1/2" fiber board for the back support and after I sat down on it a number of times, the fiber board cracked in two places. I weight 180 lbs. and I did abuse the creeper when sitting down on it. Plywood has been used on automotive creepers since at least the 1960's, when I bought my first one. By the way, that creeper still works fine. I replaced the cracked fiber board back support with a piece of 1/2" plywood and I'm sure it will last me the rest of my life. The manufacturer's choice of using fiber board instead of the much stronger plywood was a poor decision. Buyer beware!

I just bought this off the matco truck for $200. It's a nice creeper for sure, but do yourselves a favor and buy it here. The only difference is the top says 'Matco' but the back label clearly says 'whiteside' on it.

This creeper is awesome! It's comfortable, glides well and the head adjustment is a super big plus! The head adjustment is as simple as lifting the headrest and setting it into the next curved bracket up. It's just as easy to adjust going down and doesn't slip while you're using it. Another huge plus is that it's made in America because how many things are still made here in the USA anymore!? Very high quality build and if I ever have to replace it (say I accidentally run over it like my last one) I will definitely buy this one again!
