Some 2012 Mac minis shipped with the hard drive in the upper bay instead of the lower bay. To find this information, open Applications->Utilities->System Information and click SATA/SATA Express on the left. Under "Bay Name" it will list either "Lower" or "Upper."

I messed up and damaged my cable upon installing a new HD. I orders this cable and installed it and within a few minutes I installed it and started up my new HD with no problems. For my application I didn’t need the extra pieces included.

Missing logic board tool and there is no security torx bit/tool to open the case. Complete waste of time and money for the job it claims to be for. Do NOT buy for late 2014 Mac Mini!

Trying to open my 2014 Mac Mini to upgrade to an SSD. Got the bottom cover off easily, no problem. But then you’re met with 6 screws that require a T6 security bit - basically a star bit with a little hole in the middle. The tools provided have the correct sized screwdriver, but not hole in the middle, rendering it completely useless! This tool set fails to get you into the computer, so it’s completely useless. WOULD NOT recommend this.

I've installed 5 of these so far, each one works great. There are some complaints about installation but I believe those are coming from false expectations. If you know what you're doing these do exactly what you need them to. If you don't it might be frustrating.

The only thing ( to my knowledge) this kit needs are two torx bits with the security hole. What it includes is regular torx T6 and T8 bits but they do not fit inside the mac mini's screws since there is a security post in the center of the screw head. If the seller supplied the CORRECT bits this kit seems like it would work fine.Seller did not offer to resolve the issue. Poor service.EDIT: After buying the needed T6 security bit and ripping my mac mini apart, I found out IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ADD A SECOND DRIVE TO THE MAC MINI. This kit would help you REPLACE a drive.Seriously, this kit has serious issues.

The fact that this kit is intended to open and repair a Mac Mini, made me think that I was getting the right tools for the job. But, no, I can’t do the job because THESE tools are not designed to open the Mac Mini. It had to be security Torx tool ends. This is not good for nothing. The final point is that, they are offering the wrong tools for the task and they are misleading the customers.

Mostly useless. Compatibility with A-1347 is suspect. The smallest safety torx didn’t fit the screws on my Mac Mini (late 2014), which meant I was stuck practically at the beginning. It wasn’t worth my time to go through the whole return process because I had a window of time to get the install done.

Works great to add a secondary drive to a Mac Mini. In my case it was a Mac Mini (Late 2012) model, with the original drive being in the "Lower" position (IE: Drive that's on the top when the Mini is turned up-side down to open it). The tools worked to take everything apart and get access to the bracket to install my SSD in the "Upper" position. No problems with the rubber plugs or screws, and the flex cable was very well made. Easy install, perfect parts, no brainer! Why spend 3 to 4 times the amount on the MacSales/OWC version, when this does the same exact thing.

This product arrived as advertised and worked as it should have. More importantly it was the part number pictured. So it get's five stars and is a no brainer if you know what your doing when it comes to adding or replacing drives in a Mac Mini.There is a lot of inconsistency on which cable is needed for the drives of A1347 Mac Mini. I know because I had to search through multiple listings that did not look correct before landing on this one. For clarity, this cable is for the lower drive and is connected in the second position, closest to the fan. The cable for the top drive and typically assembled as the first drive (from Apple) is a different part number. Since the picture had the cable with the correct part number and was advertised as "Second Drive", I went with it and it works as it should!So my two minor cons with this purchase are1. Better clarification of which drive the cable should be used on.2. Include documentation on how to bend the cable for a proper fit.These cables are delicate and must be handled gently. Multiple bending and flexing will ruin them.
