Not always accurate. In my opinion...this should be accurate on brand new "green stuff/ordinary" premixed 50/50 antifreeze...it gives mixed readings from stick to stick. File 9 for this one. Sorry to myself for trying it for so long. I use the jar for other stuff...the jar is a quality product. I should have tried to get my money back. so I screwed up twice. Shame on me! When your Boss hates that you try to use this vs. a 2 dollar hydrometer...it is a bad thing.

WIX coolant test strips = Junk, a joke, a waste of money.I bought mine from a NAPA dealer, EXP 10/13, about $18.00, part number fil-4106 containing WIX test strips. The reason for this review on Amazon is to let others know about this product.I tested these test strips on two cars having the same coolant for a min of 4 years and also new container of coolant 50/50. The test strips read everything at -60 and pH also didn't change. The only thing that changed was the nitrite reading.FYI: I tried it with just plain water and it read 10 to -12 for the freeze point and the pH was 6.5...I went back to using my $1.24 hydrometer (from Wal-Mart) and one car read down to -10 and the other -25. I never had problems using this instrument in the past. I guess this is the way to go.The reason I tried the test strips was that it was suppose to be very accurate.... Yeah right! At $20 a hit per test strip bottle. I wasn't going to buy another to test that bottle of test strips.Hopefully this will others.
