It wasn't a very dark (red) piece of lumber. And there was a 1/2" split at one end. Though it'll probably do for my purposes. As has been said before: it's best to go to the wood store and pick your own lumber.

I am a fan of Bloodwood and have been buying it for several years. The piece I got in was not a piece I would have purchased in the store (nearest store is over 3hrs away).

The wood I received did not have much color. This was disappointing because I have always wanted to try bloodwood. It looked more like mahogany with a slight, very sligjt crimson tint to it. More on the brown side really.

When it arrived it looked fine on one side, but on the back was about a half-inch pencil-sized hole on the left side with a crack going down 10 inches of the side. I was planning on using half for the project now but I guess I can't really use the part with the hole and crack.

This was used to make a three piece laminated guitar neck. Left over wood used to make bridge and peghead overlay.
