Your cart is empty. Zebrawood (microberlinia brazzavillensis) Africa. It has a light golden yellow heartwood with streaks of dark brown to black. The stripes can be chaotic and wavy (flatsawn), or somewhat uniform (quartersawn). Zebrawood has a medium to course texture, with a lustrous surface that works well with hand and machine tools and finishes well. Zebrawood is used in cabinetry, furniture, inlay, marquetry, paneling, wood sculpture, carving, and for turning specialty items like pens, tool handles and wine stoppers. Larger blocks are +- 1/4" of size listed, smaller blocks +- 1/8". Spindle stock (1-1/2" - 2") dimensions are +-1/8". Grain runs with the longest dimension.

While the wood I received was very nice it is clear that it was flat-sawn and NOT quartersawed like the board in the picture. With many wood species it won't matter whether the board is flatsawn or quartersawed (although quartersawed is better for stability) but the striking zebrawood grain appears best in quartersawed pieces.
