We put together a whole elaborate felting kit for my niece for Christmas because she's deeply into the arts. We ran into an artist at the supply shop who showed us everything to get. I was excited to see this little kit show up for my cat-loving child to try, but I was skeptical that it would have enough included to really give it a go after everything that went into completing a felting kit for my niece. Boy was I wrong. This kit has everything you need to get started. There is an assortment of vivid wool colors, a few sharp pins, a foam block to poke into, and of course the canvas design and frame. The only things I felt I needed to add for my child's safety was a cutting board to protect legs in case of missing the foam block and a glove on the holding hand for the same reason.I'm sitting here next to my seven-year-old child who is making steady progress on the leaves. It was easy to pick up. I tried it first so I could understand and model for my child, but it was so irresistible that I didn't want to give it back. Using this felting kit is really relaxing and hits that creative itch. The template gives you something to work with but you can express your creativity in your own way by mixing up the colors, blending and layering.Edit to add: My kid got a little enthusiastic with the cushion stabbing and bent the four needles pretty quickly. I don't think typical use would result in the same, but you may want to grab some extra needles just in case.Highly recommend.

I'm a professional multiple medium artist, but none of the professional or hobby mediums I work in include felting wool so I thought I might give it a try while recovering from upcoming surgeries. I sew and do various needlework such as counted cross stitch and others so I'm used to handling a needle, but not as one does in felting wool. I'm very excited to try this out and am happy that it looks like a wonder cat that was part of our family for many years. I'm also looking forward to having something do do while recovering other than watching tv and reading. It looks like a very cute kit, but I will have to update on the quality of the kit, how well the instructions are written and the various other factors once I get into it. Hopefully, it's as good as it looks!
