Product Description

Install the engine barring tool as follows:
- Remove the two bolts holding the inspection cover to the flywheel housing.
- Remove the pin from the engine barring tool.
- Install the tool in the flywheel housing and secure with two bolts of sufficient length. (Note: The inspection cover bolts are not long enough to install the engine barring tool. Longer ones will be needed.)
- As needed, insert the pin to lock the tool and block movement of the flywheel ring gear.
Remove the engine barring tool as follows:
- Remove the two bolts and the barring tool from the flywheel housing. It is not necessary to remove the pin.
- Install the inspection cover on the flywheel housing with the two bolts. Tighten the bolts 25 N·m (18 lb·ft).
The engine barring tool must be removed from the timing case before starting the engine. Failure to do so could damage the flywheel ring gear.
- Not Included:
- 1. Inspection Cover
- 2. Bolts (2 qty)
- 3. Pin
- Included:
- 4. Engine Barring Tool
Applications:
- DD13 DD15 DD16 MBE 4000 MBE 900 Detroit Diesel, Mercedes Benz Actors, Atego, Man 5, 6, 8-cylinder engines - D25/28
- Alternative to W470589046300 or J-46392
Function:
- It is designed to adjust the engine for correct position.
- Used with 1/2" drive wrench.
- This tool is used to bar the engine over for service procedures, installs to engage the flywheel teeth and rotate the engine using standard square drive hand tools.
Superior Material:
- Durable steel construction, with corrosion-resistant, anti-wear property, solid and sturdy, no deformation.
Package Included:
- 1pc Engine Barring Tool
The engine barring tool is used for two separate functions: locking the flywheel and rotating the crankshaft.
- With the pin inserted, the tool locks the flywheel ring gear to prevent rotation during removal and installation of the flywheel.
- Without the pin, the tool can be used with a wrench to turn the flywheel and crankshaft manually.
- Note: The first time an engine barring tool is installed on the engine to turn the flywheel, the teeth on the rotating gear may rub on the flywheel housing. This does not cause a problem and should not occur the next time the tool is used.
