I am amending my original rating, which was low. For me the trick was to shorten the yellow rope. I think the bees were frightened when the trap moved in the breeze. When I shortened the rope, the trap moved less and they entered it.

Was really hoping this would work, but I've had it out for almost two weeks and haven't seen any carpenter bees go near or in it. The trap is well made, and it looks nice enough to not be an eyesore. But I guess it isn't attractive enough for the carpenter bees to fall for it. Which is a pain, because I've got a lot of them around my yard, making holes in my garage and house eaves.I'm going to try dabbing a bit of honey on the holes and maybe adding a dead bee (if I can get one) in the jar, and see if I have any better success that way. I'll update if that proves any more successful. Until then, unfortunately I can't recommend this product, especially for the price.

Perfect. Put a half dead bee in the jar, and a q-tip dab of honey on one of the holes, waited a couple of days and the bees keep coming into the jar. Yesterday I had 4 bees, today I have about 8. I have another model from this company and last year I had 14 bees without putting a bee in first. No wasps have been captured or are they around the traps so far.

Effective! After it was up for a couple of days it’s already trapped a few pesky bees. Easy to assemble and install. Get if you need to trap those pesky bees!

Well, the carpenter Bees just ignore these traps completely and work their way to my wooden roofline soffit. Bees are NOT attracted to these alleged traps. Waste of money - false advertising. Going back to chemical warfare.

This carpenter bee trap works amazingly well! We have spent so much time in the past swatting the bees, spraying the bees, and plugging the bee holes. We bought this trap a couple of weeks ago and already it has caught about 10 carpenter bees. I wish I’d gotten one of these traps years ago!

Totally disappointed. It arrived with a perfect box but inside the darn thing looked like it had been dropped by a giant. It has a constant wet feeling to it....don't know what that is about. I have such a problem with carpenter bees I decided to keep it even though the above things sucked and after days and days it caught 2 bees....I won't buy again and definitely not for the price. $27 and it's just disappointing.
