The best aspect of these reeds is that they are appropriately inexpensive. If you are a student, these would do fine. Everything in the product description is fluff, hyperbole, or just misinformation based on a lack of understanding of cane reeds in general. It makes me sad when I see content such as this. First, there is no plastic coating. These reeds absorb moisture just like any other reed and they are bare. They produce a quality of sound that is no better nor worse than any other reed. Since there is no protective coating there is no vibration stabilizer. The cut of the reed is not entirely consistent and the stiffness is unknown. There are no markings on the reed itself to indicate what the size or stiffness is (i.e., Alto, or 2.5). I'm pretty sure I have Alto 2.5 but I wouldn't know it because the packaging reads Tenor reeds and nothing else. Therefore, I have to mark all these reeds myself. The thing I don't like about these reeds is the fact that they are mislabeled. Moreover, the product description is basically all fluff and provides zero information or confidence to the buyer. If I wanted to order another 10 reeds. I have no way of knowing what I would get. Again, the product description and packaging say these should be Tenor reeds but I know I received alto. In addition, there is no indication of reed strength. Ergo, order at your own risk.

To start, what I received was labeled as Tenor Sax reeds, but are actually alto sax reeds (pictured is a tenor sax reed--Labeled TX--next to the pack of reeds I received). Could've been an error just on my package, but indicates a larger quality control issue. The bigger issue is that there are quality control issues with the selection and cut of the reeds. Typical high-quality reeds show careful selection of the raw material, with a smooth face on the raw portion. These were very uneven, with rough spots and even some shallow grooves.Six of the 10 reeds (bottom 6 reeds in the picture) I received had a very uneven cut on the curve of the taper, which was the first indication. They are different thicknesses from side to side. One also had a split. As expected, when I shared those with students, the sound quality was uneven, and students had a harder time with controlling the sound. Two were salvaged by students who know how to modify their reeds. The other four reeds sounded okay, but is it really worth buying 10 reeds to only get 4 good ones?I really want to find high-quality, low-cost reeds for my students, but these aren't the ones.
