I use this to make gas cap gaskets and it works great! Very strong rubber.

It is clearly a flat rubber sheet, very flexible and strong. My only complaint is that the rubber sheet has a very strong rubbery smell, like the inner tube of a tire. It appears useful for outdoor projects and as small washers for tight seals of nuts and bolts. I cannot use it for my attended purpose, as a protective rubber mat while working on things at my table.

I often find myself needing to make an oil resistant gasket either for a new project or as a replacement.My research says that Buna-N rubber is the most oil resistant commonly available (non-exotic) rubber.This is available is various thicknesses and softness grades. I buy sheets and keep them on hand for when they are needed.In my experience these sheets hold up about as good as any in contact with oil.
