At initial look this appears well made and solid metal construction with a shock absorbing handle but quickly upon use a few standout issues reveal themselves. The handle is attached with a corby style bolt or some sort of press fit bolt with rounded heads which should be a great addition but the bolt is not adjustable and is not set in the handle completely to where there is a gap between the handle and the rounded heads that at a minimum hold dirt and moisture but more concerningly could tear your hands up. The included sheath is appreciated but built in a fashion that it is a bit stubborn to slid the handle through in order to cover the head. This may loosen up over time but fresh new this would be difficult to wear on a belt as designed to insert and remove. When not on a belt you need to take care as your hand could slip trying to work the sheath up the handle and cut yourself. The 2 star review is mainly upon the quality of the hatchet itself and not the included sheath due to the room for better assembly craftsmanship of the handle. At what I would consider a premium price for a 17 inch hatchet there are options in the same price bracket from the well known names like Fiskars and Gerber. All in all in my opinion it is a reasonable hatchet at a poor price point. I am going to put a wrap on the handle to protect my hands but that will likely further inhibit use of the sheath.

This hatchet has quickly become one of my go-to tools for camping and general outdoor work. Right out of the box, it feels solid and well-balanced in hand. The 1065 high manganese steel head is sharp, heavy-duty, and holds its edge really well, even after repeated use on tougher wood. The grip is another standout feature—it's non-slip and does a great job of absorbing shock, which makes longer chopping sessions much more comfortable. It feels secure, even with gloves or slightly wet hands. The nylon sheath is decent quality and makes it easy to pack or store safely.I’ve used it for splitting kindling, clearing small branches, and even a bit of light carving, and it handled everything without issue. For the price, you're getting great performance and durability. Highly recommend this one for campers, hikers, or anyone who needs a compact but capable axe.

Good quality, nice balanced weight and a sharp edge. Uses it on some of my fire wood. Works great on medium to small logs. I will use it for kindling.

This is a fairly durable hatchet. The head on the hatchet is fairly thick and heavy which is good if you need to use it more like a hammer and not as good for splitting wood. You do get a workout if you are doing a lot of chopping due to the weight and it takes more force to drive it through a piece of wood due to the thicker head. The blade is fairly sharp out of the box but needs to be sharpened after a moderate amount of use. I like the bright orange handle as it is easier to find if you place it on the ground. It seems that it's slightly unbalanced due to the length of the handle and the weight of the head. It comes with a nice cover for the head that you can clip onto a belt for carrying.
