I was worried about how these would hold up given that they are plastic. They were able to hold 4 hardcover books (3 have about 30 pages, the other has about 120 pages) without any bending or slipping. I love that they help keep my flat surfaces clear and my materials look more organized. Although I was worried about the plastic bending or cracking, I think it actually helps the magnet adhere better because it reduces the weight of the shelf, allowing it to support more weight. I am completely satisfied with this item.

Update not even 2 months later- I'm taking a star off- one shelf was only used for pens after the photo was taken, and ironically enough that is the one that failed. The magnet is still stuck the the cart, but the shelf fell off. It's not the end of the world, and I'll use some E6000 or the like to re-attach the shelf to the magnet so I shouldn't have any worries going forward. Maybe it was just bad luck, but I wouldn't put anything fragile or valuable on these with the factory adhesive that was used, just in case.These are just the right width for our rolling carts and really do have strong magnets. I was worried putting anything on them would make them slide, but that worry was unfounded as they handled the weight of the 400+ page books with ease. In reality these will more than likely be a spot the kids stick tape and other little things they need to keep handy and not in one of the compartments in the carts.The accessory holder is a nice bonus because we are forever chasing pens and pencils- a dedicated spot will be very helpful.I do wish they were just a tiny bit deeper to let things lean back a bit more, but they do work.Also, I’ll note there are other very similar options at significantly lower prices than the current $22.99 this is listed at- so I would be drawn to those instead if they made similar claims regarding strength… but if you need magnetic shelves (and a pen/pencil cup), this is a solid option.
