Focus plane is yours to control
Without using the pan-tilt function, the lens is indistinguishable from a regular 50mm f1.4 lens. When using the pan or tilt function, adjust to the focal plane you want to take a picture. After the rotation button is locked, you can rotate it 360° to adjust it to the angle you want, and then you can clearly shoot the focal plane at the angle you want.

I could not find a reason for a 50/1.4 tilt shift until I put an extension tube (10 mm) on. It became a great tilt shift macro.Recommended. Fun toy!

This lens is ideal for those seeking perspective effects, depth of field effects, and portraiture at a very low cost. However, it is not suitable for architectural photography as it isn't wide enough (equivalent to a 75 mm full frame lens on APS-C). If you're not looking to spend thousands of dollars on a tilt-shift lens, this is a great alternative. While it's not as perfect as more expensive lenses, it is good enough to achieve professional results if you understand its limitations.Although the lens is specified as f/1.4, center sharpness becomes very good at f/2.8, with corner sharpness improving progressively as the aperture closes, becoming very sharp at f/5.6 to f/8.0. At f/2.8, you can achieve excellent blur effects around a sharp central object or isolate a subject. Note: the aperture ring has no click, and there is no manual included in the box.Craftsmanship Note: The lens I bought is not exactly parallel to the camera at 0 degrees. I’ve contacted the 7artisans store about this. To ensure the focus axis is straight, you need to slightly adjust the barrel to align the lens mount with the camera and lock it with a small screw. This misalignment will not impact photography, but I would have preferred it to be perfectly aligned with my camera. This does raise some concerns about quality control.4 stars because of a minor issue

There is a very small locking screw for the rotate function, and you have to lock it to be able to mount the lens. Once the lens is mounted it is very hard to reach it to unlock, and then again to lock so you can remove the lens. The lens seems sharp enough, but the tilt and slide functions feel sloppy, the lens always feels loose. BTW, order it here if you are going to buy it. I ordered from the 7 Artisans store and to return it I have to send it to China, even though it was sent from California. So, out $35 shipping. I've read good reviews about their primes, but this lens is a disappointment. Just improving the rotate lock would make it worth it.

Ich habe das Objektiv heute bekommen und nur kurz an einer A7RII aus dem Fenster gehalten. Das Bild war auf den ersten Blick scharf und nicht an den Rändern abgedunkelt oder gar abgeschnitten. Tilt funktioniert stufenlos und hat ein Feststell- sowie ein Einstellrad. Die Shift Funktion hat drei Stellungen Oben, Mitte und Unten. Das ergibt effektiv aber nur zwei Positionen, da man das Objektiv 360 Grad drehen kann ( somit ist auch die hälfte des Tiltbereiches sinnlos ;) ). Die Drehfunktion hat auch ein Feststellrad.Testbilder kommen voraussichtlich in den nächsten Tagen.----------------------- Edit 26.04.2024Ich habe schnell einige Testbilder vom Balkon geschossen. Links ist immer das 7Artisans 50/1.4 mit offener Blende. Als Vergleich ein Yashica 50/1.7 Objektiv ( ebenfalls offene Blende ) mit M42 Anschluss an einem günstigen M42 E-Mount Adapter mit Tilt Funktion, den ich hier auf Amazon gefunden habe. Alle Bilder sind mit einer Sony A7RII im Vollformat aufgenommen und bis auf den Zuschnitt unbearbeitet.Fazit:Ich bin grundsätzlich zufrieden mit dem 7Artisans Objektiv, da aber der M42 Adapter flexibler ist ( ich habe noch diverse andere M42 Linsen ) werde ich das gute Stück zurück geben.
