The 50mm APO-LANTHAR is Voigtlander's highest resolution standard lens. The Z APO-Lanthar delivers outstanding optical performance benefiting from APO-chromatic color correction and high resolution optics optimized for Z system sensors. We believe the 50mm APO-LANTHAR is among the best 50mm lenses ever produced. Floating elements are used with the 10 element in 8 groups optical design. I have all three of the Voigtlander Z mount APO Lanthars. These are very well made manual focus lenses, though unfortunately without weather sealing. Since they have electrical contacts, they work well with the Zf and Z8 (I have those, so I can confirm those). The images have very nice pop to them, very nice micro contrast, and beautiful color rendering. I really like the image quality! If you are looking for corner to corner consistent image quality, these are the Voigtlanders to look at.If you and your subjects can deal with manual focusing, I don't think you will be disappointed. Do note that the 65 macro APO Lanthar is a little more sensitive in focus, and rather notably larger than the 35 and 50. The 35 and 50 share a common filter size, whereas the 65 takes larger. If you use filters which have a pronounced raised texture on the rim, then the lens hoods might not quite fit over them. So you'd have to use them without the hood. Typical threaded filters like Nikon Arcrest II or Hoya CD3 or B+W have no issues.
