This lens takes some amazingly sharp shots with nice soft bokeh wide open. For an lens that is extremely affordable, it is not without its limitations. For instance, it does not have an aperture ring, so you're relegated to having to rely on your camera's dials to do the work. Smaller cameras like the X-M5 are limited in this capability so it's not as convenient. Also, it is not weather sealed, so be careful of where and how you use it outdoors. With an APS-C sensor, 23mm becomes 35mm, which is one of the most common focal lengths for story telling and street photography.The images are very sharp and subjects have good separation with the background. There is some vignetting, but not terrible and tends to fit well if you're going for nostalgia.Overall, a great lens for the price!

This is a wonderful walkaround lens. Is this lens perfect? No. Is it going to compete with much more expensive lenses? It depends on its usage but for the most part no. However, this lens gives those of us on a budget wonderful tool to go out and photograph without breaking the bank. Lens comes with lens caps and hood.35mm is one of my favorite focal length for street photography and this lens comes close at 34.5mm factoring the crop factor. It is not weathersealed but it is made of metal and feels nice in the hand with great manual focus ring. It has a 52mm filter thread and does not have aperture ring. When mounted to XT-3, it balances well and AF performance, while not super fast, works quite well. It has a USB connection on the rear lens cap for future firmware updates and the redesigned lens hood allows it to be mounted on the lens all the time while providing access to lens cap.It has vignetting issues in the corners but overall sharpness and contrast is pretty good. Vignetting doesn’t really go away but I think it gives this lens a bit character. For street photography or even low light shooting, it’s not a big deal. Corners could be better but compared to the old 50mm 1.8 lenses old, this lens isn’t that bad. For portraits and candid photos, this lens works very well. I love that TTArtisan makes lenses that are affordable, fun and has some character. For those looking for fast, fun lens on a budget, this lens highly recommended.

impressive little lens that performs on par with my fujinon 23mmtested on my X-T5 and the images I was getting was on par with lenses 5 times it's price!image quality was honestly impressive and the lens is fast a tracking it's subject. Didn't have any issues with focusing.this lens is small enough that it is a great option as a travel lens or street photography lens.Very light and easy to shoot with. highly recommended!

Was shipped without thought of possible damage. Hope the lens works but just the state of the box which is one of the reasons I like camera gear made this a bad purchase.

This isn't the best glass you'll ever see but it isn't horrible either. TTArtisan makes affordable, decent lens solutions that don't really disappoint.I should note, there is a distinct lack of sharpness. So don't think this would be ideal for any detail work. I actually love it for quick shoots where I'm looking to capture movement in a cinematic way.

I have a couple other TTArtisan autofocus lenses for X mount that are sharp and have satisfactory autofocus, so I was expecting the same of this lens but the sharpness is very disappointing, to the point that I am unlikely to use it. It was not expensive but too expensive to just have gathering dust. The build quality compares well with my other TTArtisan lenses but the lack of sharpness makes it unusable. Maybe I just got a lemon, as I have seen positive reviews online.

This is real bargain at the price it's being offered.The body is made of plastic, but the mount is metal. Very well built, though.Came with nice lens hood. Zoom ring has no stop. There is no aperature control ring.23mm to 28mm is my favorite focal length for street photography. This one is equivalent to 35mm in full frame, focal length I really not that fan of - it's not wide enough and not close enough.....IQ is good for the price. It's sharp in middle, but do see softness towards edge at even f/8. Almost someone smudge the half dried print....Sharpness get better starting f/2. Barrel distortion is well controlled. Can see bit of chromatic abberation (purple fringes). Bokeh ball isn't that look good - turn into a hexagon and cat's eye wide opened, but I expected from $130 lens.Flare is something you need to avoid. Horrible.If you are on a budget, it may work for you as long as you watch out for lens flare and don't mind corner softness.

I did not do any pixel peeping to check the sharpness of this lens, but I took the same pictures with this and the Fujinon 27 mm F/2.8 lens on my Fuji X-H2.The TTArtisan 23 mm lens is larger and heavier than the Fuji 28 mm, but it is also F/1.8 vs. F/2.8. Minimum focus distance on the TTArtisan lens is advertised as 0.98 feet vs. 1.1 feet for the Fuji.At infinitiy (blowing up identical photos taken with both lens so that subjects were the same size and then magnifying pictures from both lenses to the same degree), I felt the TTArtisan lens was a bit sharper than the Fuji lens in all but one shot (where I judged results to be equal). At closer distances (a few feet), it was overall equal--in some shots the lenses were equal, in others one or the other was better about the same number of times.Depth of focus seemed deeper on the TTArtisan lens. Both lenses offered good color rendering, but I found the TTArtisan lens to be brighter (even when shooting at the same f-stop). Focus ability of both lenses was good and both achieved focus in about the same amount of time.With the Fuji lens costing almost 3 times that of the TTArtisan, I feel this lens is a good buy, and it is wider and faster than the Fuji. (Fuji has a 23 mm F/1.4 lens costing six times as much as the TTArtisan, but I do not have one to compare it to.)
