The parts came with what I needed to replace the pall on for the decompressing part to function. There are two problems wit the kit: 1). The shaft is larger in the kit than the one that was in the cam. Had I needed to replayCe the pin I would need to have drilled the pin hole to get it to fit. Doing so could have weaken the drive gear, 2) There were no instructions on how to assemble the kit to the gear. This added time to the repair since it is not obvious on how the spring sets in the pall. It took several tries at assembling and disassembly of the parts to find the correct spring alignment for proper operation of the assembly.

This is a good quality kit for the terrible design flaw of the common camshaft compression release failure on a lot of B&S engines. Most failures I've repaired are caused from the either the bump pin, plastic insert or the spring weakening and breaking and mechanism pieces flying around the oil pan area possibly causing further damage. Before this was available, I would purchase one of the cheap camshaft kits from Amazon (Chinese made from one specific vendor) and just use the mechanism from it. I would install it on the OEM camshaft, as long as it was still OK.I would however have to enlarge the OEM camshaft pin hole ever so slightly to install it. The original OEM pin is too small for these, for some reason. This is a cheaper alternative fix. I had to do this a lot because of the Covid years and the extreme backorder of the B&S camshaft kits. I still do this repair today, unless camshaft is damaged then I replace entire thing with an OEM kit, if available.Unfortunately, most of the camshafts from these cheaper kits sold online are not of good quality. The knurls for the pressed on lobes are too shallow and strip too easy during engine operation causing major engine damage. Or they are just simply made of material that is just lesser quality.B&S engine manufacturers, if continuing to use this mechanism, need to make the pin a little larger and use stronger material for both the pin, insert and spring. This repair is easy, quick and cheaper for both the shop and customer. This repair lasts a whole lot longer than installing a non-OEM camshaft kit. And in fact, some of the repaired engines have lasted longer than ones where I installed the OEM camshaft kits.But......this is still a major issue and no matter what, the spring, insert or pin will eventually fail and break no matter who the manufacturer or vendor is.
