We have lots of snakes in the area and all too often one comes in the house. I never want to deal with them, it's revolting. So when I saw this I thought it was a great solution. I could grab one from a distance and get it out of my house without having to do a LOT of other things to slide it out the door (like use a box). This IS better than other methods I've currently used but the major downfall of this is the way the sections "screw together". The problem is it doesn't, which is why I've put it in quotes. There is no actual securing of these sections. They remain loose. The pole length is outstanding but the last thing I want is for the two parts to come apart and have to worry about a venomous snake loose again or coming after me! I think this could be outstanding if those sections did secure properly and would give me better peace of mind. Right now I've used it for nonvenomous snakes. Which is nice but not gonna lie, I still worry about this coming apart and having a snake coming after me! It's a great idea that needs a little tweaking!

first off, i did not read the length before i got this, so it was WAAAAAY longer than i expected, but thats fine honestly, secondly i got this because we get a lot of garter snakes and when you catch them they "musk" on you which smells disgusting, so i figure i could catch em with this, then give em a quick rinse, and THEN my kids could hold em. but well before i could find one (its not warm enough yet) i saw the stray cat who likes to spray on my patio furniture and i havent been able to catch him for over a year, but NO MORE! caught that little beast with this grabber my first try and OFF TO THE VET TO BE NEUTERED AND RETURNED HE WENT! if it can catch an angry cat, it can catch a snake.

First, to address some of the other reviewers' concerns:The parts do screw together, you just actually have to screw them together. It takes a little effort, but you get a sturdy grabber if you make that effort. It does, in fact, lock. The lock is on the hand piece. I can't get it to lock in the first notch, but that would be for decapitation, not capture, so that doesn't bother me.The directions are a bit dicey until you understand how the mechanism works. If you get it all put together, and you have no tension, open the plastic lock (part "C"), pull the grabber section as far out of the tube as you can, and then re-lock.While I can see myself using this for snakes, my purpose of getting it is more about pulling branches down so my husband can lop them.

Well, here's hoping it will hold up to a weighty snake. It's an assembly type grabber and although it's stainless steel and seems to have a good grip handle to it, it's not as sturdy as I thought it would be. At a 90" reach, I thought it would have weighed a little more than 2 lbs. Anyways, haven't used it yet, but am looking forward to it in my snake infested backyard this summer. Will update as testing commences.

This snake grabber is too long and heavy to risk removing venomous snakes, especially big ones like the Eastern Diamondback. The first section underneath the snake grabber comes loose easily, not to mention that the grabber doesn't lock and the notches don't line up!

Okay, so I often order things to use for something besides their intended purpose.I did that here. I have a bad back so I try not to bend over frivolessly. If I can pick something up without bending over, it's a win for me.This has a great grip strength while being easy to use. It's heavy for a grabber, but since that's not quite what it's designed for I guess I'll just have to live with it. 🫠 It kind of has to be heavy to be a snake grabber.A word of warning though. You might want to read the directions before you put it together. It would have saved me some time.

I ordered the 90" snake grabber to remove snakes that tend to find their way into my screened lanai area. I have kids and dogs and can't take the risk that they will be bitten by a venomous snake. The last snake I removed was a beautiful corn snake; the one before that was a feisty pigmy rattler that was difficult to remove with only a broom and water hose at hand. I do like the length of this pole but feel like this snake grabber is too long and heavy to attempt the risk of removing a venomous snake, especially one of a larger caliber such as an eastern diamondback. The first section located just beneath the grabber tends to loosen easily, not to mention the grabber doesn't lock, nor do the grooves even line up. When I was able to line up in the second notch, the grabber sprung open completely. This could have been a fatal situation in the event I had a large, angry danger noodle on the end of the pole and it sprung open. The materials don't seem to be as heavy-duty as an aluminum pole (one length with no sections) would be, and with the locking mechanism not locking, I would not feel comfortable attempting to capture or remove a venomous reptile. With that being said, I decided to try this pole to remove some dead Eureka Palm branches that were just too high and out of reach without having to pull out my 8-foot ladder or balancing myself on a cement bench top. This pole worked like a charm to reach even the highest of branches, grasping and removing the dead branches with little to no effort. The second section I mentioned earlier needs to be tightened often, or the long pole becomes wobbly.Overall, this grabber worked like a charm for removing dead palm branches, but I don't feel it would be reliable for tempting fate with removing a venomous snake unless my only other options were a broom and a water hose. Otherwise, this grabber is great for yard work!
