Most of the circles I draw are small. I had to cut off the point on the pencil side to draw small circles. I didn’t need a divider.Wanted an easy adjustable high quality compass. Gross adjustment is fast with a quick adjustment and fine adjustment with the screw.

and that is pretty much it, you can fine tune whatever you are doing; circle, arc, pacing off distance.

The "split nut" style quick adjust mechanism is easily overpowered by the spring action of the calipers and so just slips when you atempt to tighten it up / adjust the caliper distance. What feels like a good sturdy compass is let down by the adjuster mechanism.For the price paid, it's being returned.

I’m using this divider for woodworking. I prefer this type where the adjuster pivot and female thread are within the arms rather than on an external post. For that reason, the arms are nicely thick, line up well when fully closed, and the adjuster works smoothly. Important for my work is that they hold that adjustment very well.It looks like there might be a quick adjustment to make large changes but haven’t figured that out, although it's not important to me.
