Good tool for showing the students how electric current creates magnetism. The price was excellent for an inexpensive demonstration tool for my science class.

It's not bad. It's mainly to show how a real compass works, but it's not a real compass. You need to use a magnet to imitate the earth's magnetic field so that the needle points north. By moving a magnet, you can see the needle move. My biggest complain is that one or more came broken, so I don't have enough for my students to each have one. That is not acceptable. I don't pay money to receive broken merchandise, regardless of the price I pay.

I bought these compasses for girls to take home from a Girl Scout camp weekend all about outdoor skills. I purchased 110 of them and 12 of them are broken. They were either missing a glass top, missing the arrow, or the arrow had fallen off in the casing. Likewise, each box was supposed to contain 10 compasses. Some only had 8, some had 12, and total, despite my order, I only received 108. Likewise, all the needles point in the same directions, but they all face the wrong cardinal direction! In the same exact location, some say south, south east, north, west, etc. You will be disappointed, SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Smaller than I thought they would be. However, for the price, they are exactly what I needed for my class.

Magnetic detection compases were received on time and well packed. I wanted only one but since the price was great I ordered a whole set. Extras could be shared with friends who need those. They work well.

They served their purposed for me which was a small electromagnetism demo for a girl scout event. I think out of the whole batch we only had one that was completely useless. They are very small, roughly between a nickel and quarter. I like the idea of the one of the other reviews to used them as buttons they are about the right size for that.

I bought these as prizes for my students and I must say, they're pretty good! Of course they're not 100% accurate but it will point close enough to north. They are very tiny though, about the circumference of a nickel. My students love to play with them!

I actually bought these to make buttons on a Steampunk coat I'm making. I haven't gotten to use them yet so for my purposes I think they will be just fine. I wouldn't trust them if I was lost in the woods or something, unless it was all I had. They look pretty cheap.
