I thought I was getting one, abs was surprised to find that I got several for that price. Shared them with friends. They are very sturdy. These hold their place well when making circles (unlike the plastic ones, which tend to slide during use).

These work better than the ones that were left for me. I brought them for my Geometry class and they worked well.

Flimsy. Some didn't grip the pencil while othersbdidn't hold the angle.

I am using it with 3rd graders, and you can preach and preach about how to hold the things to keep the circle the same size. These actually do a good job of resisting the shift, better than some of the more expensive newer models. It's a classic that works.

Bought two boxes of these for a 10th grade geometry class and they are all still holding up 6 months later. That is pretty good for anything with 10th graders, so I would say this is an excellent buy.

Great quality. They are working well in class. They don't slip out of position and the metal tip is not sharp. So safe for Middle and High School students.

I realize that these compasses were not very expensive, but I didn't expect the quality of them to be so extremely poor. A few of the compasses will not hold a pencil after adjusting the pencil to the right length. The metal holder is quite strong, but the mechanism that locks the pencil in place just doesn't work. Five compasses didn't even hold the pencil when I took them out of their individual bags. Several others allow the pencil to slide up as it is being used. There is no way to tighten the part that holds the pencil. Also, the very top bends easily which does not allow it to do it's job. I'm very disappointed as I bought these to have a class set to use with my 5th graders, but I'm not able to do that. From the very first attempt to use these compasses, they failed. I now have two sets of compasses that cannot be used.

Oh boy... So lemme break this down. The Good: They are cheap compasses and fulfill their purpose. The Meh: The packaging is not reusable. Be prepared to have to purpose some way to store these. The pencils are also not great quality. I bought two sets (24 total) and within the first day of using them (HS Geometry), I had at least 5 pencils break in some way.The Bad: The clamps on these are terrible. First day, I had 3 clamps stop holding the pencil. By the end of the week I had at least 12 that weren't working. I had to bring a pair of pliers from home to bend them back into a usable state. Granted, the metal is fairly pliable so this wasn't difficult, but still something I shouldn't have needed to do. In addition, some of the point arms started to bend since they are flat-pressed metal and any excessive torque (like from a student who has never used a compass and is struggling to make it work) will cause it to bend out of line. Again, easily fixable but annoying. In the end, I don't regret my purchase but I wish the quality was better.
