Fits and operates well after some work . Case is made a little too weak . Had to leave one bolt slightly loose so lat hing mechanism would work . Not even half a turn . But does work well .

My 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is going through a restoration, including replacement of the inop driver door lock actuator. I replaced the original with this well-built replacement. The work was tedious, but done slowly, it can be completed by an amateur mechanic like me. Hints: Watch as many YouTube videos as you can find. The inner door panel comes off and is easily reinstalled. The >top half

Everything fit and clipped back in as it should, fixing door gap and latching issue on the driver side.

There are a number of electrical issues that can cause your Jeep Cherokee doors to not function properly. If they will not lock by switch or keyfob and make an elongated sound like they're trying, you might need this part. Once you confirm it is the correct replacement part, you will have 4 screws, 2 wiring connectors, and 2 latch/lock levers to disconnect to remove the door card. With that out, pull the vapor barrier back, unscrew the door lock actuator from the side of the door, and remove the 4 levers from the faulty actuator. The new one installs in reverse other and I found the levers to lay so reinstall is self explainatory, but it wouldn't hurt to take photos or notes.This unit worked great for me and was installed and functioning in less than 30 minutes.
