This is an amazing little synth. Many of you have probably seen this on a list of best beginner synths, and I'd agree. I already have a good idea of how to use synths from years of sound design with digital synths. For my daughters, this is their first experience. One of them (5 yo) loves sifting through the presets, turning on the arp, and playing some cool chords. My other (4 yo) likes to settle on a preset and then play with the different parameters. Of course for me, I love to set that thing to initial and start creating my own sounds. Three different approaches, all equal loads of fun. As for the sound, it is awesome. If you plug this thing into your DAW and make an effects chain, or get some hardware effects, it amplifies the fun. One cool thing I did was accidentally make the synth stab in the beginning of "Gold Dust" by DJ Fresh and the Flux Pavilion Remix. Just had to add a little Decapitator saturation and RBass and it sounded almost similar! Great synth all around.

This is such a capable synth! It sounds absolutely amazing. Honestly I wasn’t sure about the keyboard going in to this but once I got my hands on it I fell in love.

This synthesizer can do so much, you will never get tired of it. The Microfreak will get you into music like nothing else ever made......Easy to use, so much fun, so many sound variations......I can't say enough good things about this Synth. High quality instrument that will last. Just get one....you will also love it. You won't be sorry.

This is the first musical instrument I have ever owned and my reason for choosing it was largely that it was within my price range. I had no idea the depth of what I was getting into. I've learned a whole new vocabulary of terms since going through the 150 page manual and following all the examples they suggest to familiarize yourself with the myriad features on display here. Its taught me about modular synthesis and been an sort of gateway instrument into many nore facets of audio technology. People will tell you its too advanced for beginners but thats just gatekeeping. They don't want newbies to realize how much potential this thing has and how EASY it is to learn! The logic of how you can use the matrix to modulate the different features i picked up almost instinctively but I will emphasize YOU MUST READ THE MANUAL, but it is a joy to do so. This is gonna be remembered as something that musicians of the future credit as inspiring them to achieve what they will go on to do.

Seriously one of the dopest pieces of kit in the world. Already had a long MIDI keyboard, and adding this to my instrument monster allows for some incredible expression thanks to the poly after touch keys. Arturia a keeps updating this thing. Most recent update added totally new functionality to it, whole new digital oscillators and a new unison function. This was launched two years ago and Arturia isn’t just updating it, they’re actively making an awesome music box more awesome. To see a brand stick behind a product like this and keep it growing, instead of moving on to a new sku and dropping support just to get people buying more, is reason enough to love this little synth. Well freaking done Arturia, you’ve gained a lot of loyalty from me because of this beautiful little touch of madness. You can make any sound on this you want. Seems intimidating, but even if you’re not crafting your own presets, there are a ton of amazing free presets out there to play with
