The door was easy to install and is built well but that is as far as it goes. The timer is unreliable at best. It would open one day when it was supposed to and then not open at all the following day. I tried using the electric eye to open at daylight and close at dark and that was not reliable. I set the timer and that was not reliable. I tried combinations and they didn't work correctly 2 days in a row. This past night the door must have closed very early and my hens were locked outside all night because I had an emergency and was unable to check it and now I have one her left due to a predetor(s). I recomend the door hardware but the timer is garbagge.

Set the timer. Worked great for a week and then just didn't open one day. I was not able to check on it that day and not worried because it had been working fine. Well, I live in Florida and the door did not open. So my poor chickens roasted to death! Don't trust this door!

This is my second automatic coupe door and I must say this one is way better than the other plastic cheap junk… This unit is made with metal and works really well!

I am so happy with this purchase previously my chickens were eliminated because of other animals so this time around I said to myself, I know that I'm gonna be smarter and keep them safer. And this is the solution. Do not hesitate if you have a coop.

This is a great door or will be after I figure out how to program the thing. The door itself is great. The metal door rolls up in front of the FRONT of the frame rather than in the back so it is much easier to install. We had to reframe the door opening to the right size but that was accomplished easily with one $5 board. 6 screws and it was in. The problem is getting it programed to open and close at the specified time. The directions are poorly written and just about impossible to follow. But I am determined to figure it out because I like the door so much. The last door I ordered was real easy to install and program but the door would only open one or two inches and close just the same. So I had to go out twice a day anyway so it was a waste of money. I think this door is a much better value, once I get the timer figured out.UPDATE: This door has been in for a few weeks now, thru beautiful spring days and the odd horrible wind and snow storms. I programmed it to open and close with the light and am running it off electricity. After my horrible experience with the last door, I keep a close eye on this door. It has never failed since day one. It is flawless. If we ever get nicer weather I will paint the new opening we made to adjust for the increased opening size. Other than that….PERFECT.

Only had the door for a week but so far so good! I searched for many days and read alot of reviews and decided on this one. Price was ok and we needed a door that rolled up not slid up. I was very skeptical because people did have problems with many of the automatic chicken doors out there. We had to make some modifications for it to fit in our little chicken coop and So far it’s been working great! I programed it to open at 8 o’clock in the morning and I shut it manually at night but if I have forgotten it does shut when it gets dark. It is nice to have one less thing or worry about doing at chore time in the mornings. I was worried that the solar panel wouldn’t work so well with the buttons for opening and closing where on the back but it’s not a problem. Instructions were a little confusing but watching the video about the chicken door really helped. Hopefully it holds up in the cold weather and snow here in Iowa!

Door works well...but measure! Do not go by the picture in the listing. I was shocked by how small the door opening is... I have medium sized chickens (Dominiques) and was concerned they wouldn't fit - they do - bust best to check.
