It is nice and heavy and holds my cookbooks open and upright without tipping over. Cast iron was a great choice of material. Very sturdy. So stylish. It looks so good that I leave it on the counter to show it off. Another excellent Babish cookware purchase!

The weight keeps the stand from falling forward. I don't mind that it does not fold up for storage, because it is an attractive book holder to leave out. Only have 1 fat cookbook which does not fit the rack. All the others are slim enough, when split open, fit the rack and stay open beautifully!
