Yes. It doesn't work with thin spools out of the box. No it's not a hunk of junk. Slap a couple washers in there and your off to the races. I really like this thing and it should last me a lifetime

This is just a bad product, designed by someone who doesn't fish. This thing can only really be used for wide spools of line. Which most people don't use. I fish probably atleast 3-4 times a week. So I needed something I could keep on my boat that doesn't take alot of room. Guess I'll just keep using the live well lol.

There is a glaring design flaw with this spooler in that the prongs that the spool sits on are too long to accommodate narrow spools (like 300m Powerpro or Spiderwire) The pins meet in the middle without the spool sitting straight on them and having any tension applied to the spool. It’s okay with 4oz bulk spools, and larger, but hopeless with any of the braid spools that most of us buy. The spool WILL NOT sit straight under any tension to allow a reel to be filled.Save your money and look for an alternative. Mine is either being returned or going in the bin, I haven’t made my mind up yet!
