As i was afraid of its just painted on black, not black metal or stained metal. The black will chip just from being in the box. If you dont care then fine but to be put on black material youre better off with normal staples and using a black sharpie which could stain the metal black-ISH. If you sharpied these staples after they chip they would only chip more. Very disappointed but theres no way to know. Even showing staples would look classier than tacky peeling chipping black causing sticky little specs like ugly glitter. Ugh. Oh well.Also very over priced.

I use these for my furniture upholstery business. They are perfect length. Sturdy. Never had an issue with them.
