I bought one before I bought this one because it looked pretty and was cheaper! Then I figured out that this one with the offset wrench head is the only way to go. This one actually works!!! So buy it!

Make sure to order on a business day, otherwise it won’t ship during a weekend. I had to wait 4 days when ordered on a Thursday. My service was 90 percent complete but needed this tool to complete, as I couldn’t get enough tension release with a CRV unless I removed the engine mount. I was lucky to have a helper hold the tension with the bar while I fit the belt. This would be better with a 6 point socket like the other brand so you don’t strip or slip off the bolt head., but that other one cost twice as much. If you are a mechanic and plan to work on several Honda cars, invest in the $80 tool.

It fit in the tight spot of the 14mm tensioner bolt but, unable to move the special tool to loosen the serpentine belt due to insufficient leverage or play…This tool must be L-shape to provide more play and leverage to loosen the serpentine belt…the Advertisement is not correct and not compatible to Hondacrv 2005.

Worked for 2007 Civic EX with the R18A engine.I used the lower hood prop to get the support lower and the hood more vertical.Make sure it's fully seated before you push.

dont be fooled. this tool works great, after you put a jack under the engine to support, pull the cast iron motor mount plate, then raise the engine to get the tool on. i would advise letting the engine back down to std height as this helps hold the tool on while releasing the tensioner. you must raise the engine to get the tool back off. the p/s return line is so close to the tensioner bolt head there is no way to get the socket on or off without doing this. dont grind the tool. this will lead to a well rounded bolt head and more problems. i did this once with tools from my box but it was a nightmare. well worth the 40.00.

I've done everything from cheater pipes, jack handle, connecting wrenches, etc to get enough reach and leverage to release a tensioner without damaging it. I wish I had this like 2 decades ago. Also works on some Toyotas and probably other vehicles. Handy af.

So this tool fit the tensioner and provided leverage due to legnth. However the angle of the head with the handle made it so that on a second generation crv you couldn't release the tensioner enough to actually get the serpentine belt on the pulleys. Which was really annoying as my car was down and I was trying to work on it in the fading light for two days before I realized that no matter how I position the wrench it wouldn't have enough travel. Then when I was about to try and modify it the wrench head started to slip because it is made of unhardened metal and literally rounded off teeth on the bolt head after being on that bolt head maybe 10 times.

I purchased this extra long tool to reach the lock nut on my 2001 Nissan Maxima. It had just the right length for leverage in loosening and tightening; and the correct offset to reach the nut in the center of the adjustment pulley.Instead of having to crawl underneath the car, I can access it from the top and now, makes adjusting the serpentine belt a breeze that only takes a couple of minutes. Excellent tool and time saver without getting yourself greasy.
