Cleaning off the old foam and making sure there is no debris a must!! I was a bit worried about damaging the speaker during the cleaning process but I took my time. It did help that the old foam was crumbling at the lightest touch. My only OOPs is one one of the speakers has 2 new filter covers. They are thin and I didn't double check to see if i had separated all the filters. Make sure you have a well ventilated area when using the glue.

Just finished putting the new surrounds on. I couldn't be happier! The instructions were not specifically for the Bose, but youtube videos helped. A phone call to the vendor was also helpful (the guy was great). I left the drivers in the box, didn't want to have to re-caulk. After scraping the old rotted foam off with a 3/8" chisel, I glued all the new surrounds (one at a time) to the cones first, and let each set (keeping them pressed down in a centered position). Then, one at a time, holding the edge down in the basket, I 'bounced' the cone to see if it rubbed, and with a few I had to slide the surround in the basket (1/2 mm-ish) to see where it didn't rub. Then I kind of rolled up/over the surround so I could apply glue all around the basket, and then flipped the surround down and into the basket in the proper position and slowly ran a plastic pen handle around till the glue set up a bit, often checking that the cone wasn't rubbing, i.e was still positioned correctly. After getting RainCity Audio to rebuild the equalizer, I've now got a pair of acoustically first-rate speakers!
