DeLorme publishes some very decent atlases, including this one of the two smallest New England states, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The maps in the book are at a scale of one inch to 11 miles, and the detail is fairly good outside major metropolitan areas. The map sheets are certainly good enough for chasing fall leaf viewing, farmers' markets, and local beaches. The maps are not oriented for off-road navigation. The atlas includes a gazetteer and listings of parks and recreation sites. Recommended.

Having at one time or another visited all 48 of the contiguous states I've come to really appreciate the DeLorme gazetteers as a wonderful aid to exploration of the states. For some purposes a roadmap will do (like if one wants to find the shortest route from one city to another). But if you're looking for maps that will show the backroads (county roads and the like, whether paved or unpaved), trails and trailheads, out-of-the-way little hamlets, ponds and streams, and the like, there's nothing better than this gazetteer. A few years back when I knew I would be visiting Connecticut, I procured the one for Connecticut and Rhode Island. I was glad I did. It allowed me to get to know Connecticut a lot better than I could have otherwise. (I didn't get a chance to visit Rhode Island on this trip, but I have no doubt that the gazetteer will more than adequately serve the same function for that state.)
