Your cart is empty.This CURT class 3 aluminum trailer hitch ball mount features a 2-inch x 2-inch shank and an 8K capacity for towing larger trailers, including utility trailers, boat trailers, campers and more. With class 3 trailer hitches being the most common type of trailer hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs, the class 3 ball mount, by association, is an excellent complement to this trailer hitch and these larger vehicles (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). This particular aluminum ball mount can be used in the drop position to provide a drop of 2 inches, a gross trailer weight capacity of 8,000 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 800 pounds. It can also be flipped to provide a rise of 1 inch. It features a length of 8-1/2 inches hole-to-hole, and it has a 1-inch hole to accept a tow ball. CURT aluminum hitch ball mounts are constructed from solid aluminum. They are strong but lightweight compared to steel alternatives. Aluminum is also naturally resistant to rust and corrosion, promoting long-lasting dependability for your towing system. NOTE: Trailer ball torque should not exceed 250 lb-ft. (sold separately).

Curt has been my go-to for towing needs for many years. Another great product. Lightweight and will never rust, exactly what I want. I did need to chamfer the hole slightly on the top side so my ball would lay flat and torque properly. The aluminum is quite soft and dents easily which is no surprise. It’s too bad they don’t anodize these which which make the surface much more durable. I’ll do that eventually.Chinese made, but what isn’t 🤷♂️

This is my first time buying an aluminum tow ball hitch and I plan to make an addendum to this review as time goes on. So far it looks and feels nice. The machining is pretty good especially for the price point. It slid right into my receiver as it should. I purchased the 2” ball for it and torqued it down to 250flbs just like the hitch and ball suggested. I would strongly recommend using a torque wrench particularly with aluminum as you wouldn’t want to over torque it(or under torque for that matter). So far all is well. Will update in the future good or bad.

I have 2 different size drops from Curt and love both of them. They do not rust if you keep them in your equipment like others do. Normally I use one for towing a boat and ATVs while another is used in my ATV or on my tractor. Sometimes I work in wet places or leave it on the truck/tractor for long periods and no rust, no issues when I go to remove it.

I've had countless other 'black painted' ball mounts and they have all rusted, swelled, and chipped - even though I took the effort to coat them in marine grease. I'm done with all that. Purchased this mount which is carved from a big block of aluminum (solid...not hollow) - and I'll never go back to those other mounts. I highly recommend this for light towing. Although nearly unbreakable - it does not come with load bar / weight distributing attachments - hence the 'light towing' remark. As my truck isn't super tall, the drop is appropriate. This mount is 10 / 10 for sure.
