I was excited to get this door hinge adjusting tool, I had previously been hitting the hinge with a hammer for minor adjustments after the door was hung. I thought this was going to be a great tool because I have some doors that need a little adjusting now. When I received it, my eyes widened, this is for some big hinges and for the largest I do not think you could move the hinge with this short handle, just not enough leverage. I tried the smallest adapter on my residential home doors. To my surprise this tool did not fit any of my doors; If you want to use this on custom built homes you will have to remove the door casing on the hinge side to make room for the tool to slide on the hinge. After receiving this tool and having it in my hands; I do think this hinge tool kit is not good for doors in residential homes. This hinge tool would work in a commercial setting where most of the door are steel and have steel jambs, there is no door casing on this type of door installation; so this door hinge adjustment tool would fit over the hinge and you could easily adjust the hinge.

I had a couple of exterior doors that were slightly leaning with a gap in the corner, possibly due to settling in our house. I considered using shims behind the hinges but decided to try the "Door Hinge Adjustment Tool Set, 4-in-1 Hinge Gap Adjustment Wrench Kit" first, as it seemed much easier than shimming. The kit includes four sizes to fit different hinges, but I only needed the smallest one to align my doors. It was a tight fit at first, but once I got it on the hinge, straightening the door was relatively easy. It did leave a small scratch on the hinge, though I doubt anyone would notice.Overall, this is a great kit for anyone looking to adjust and align their doors!

We had a couple of interior doors that over time started rubbing on the door jam. I'm not sure what changed, but I thought I may give this tool a try.I think the fairly frequent earthquakes in our area must have slightly shifted the door jams over time.First thing to do is to look over the gaps around the door. I noticed the hinge side of the door had a wider gap than the latching side of the door. The latching side was rubbing on the door frame towards the top of the door as the door closed. This is a good candidate problem type for this type of tool. The tool comes with 4 sizes of hinge loops, but the smallest one was all I needed. Just slip it over the hinge, then apply progressive pressure to bend the hinge until the gap closes. My final result, the hinge side actually looks almost flush, with almost no gap, and the door latch side now freely moves without rubbing on the door jam.

This works to make some small tweaks to your door angle. However, I had a very hard time getting even the smallest handle on to the hinge, due to the spacing from the wall. This was for all the doors I tried. Once you get it on, you can use force to bend the hinge a bit to make the door's angle a little larger or smaller and make it fit into the frame.

Have to give the 3 stars from not having commercial doors at my house.Says it's safe to use on my doors. Guess again. My bathroom door binds up all the time at the top because the door is at a angle. Saw this and thought this is the answer. I put it on the hinge as in the instructions and made sure the door was closed. I could see that the hinge is being pull apart for some reason and is same on all 3 hinges. With the door closed i proceeded to bend the hinge. It pulled the door away and when I opened it the door was easier to open and closed. I saw the 2 parts of the hinge closer to it. Seemed to be really easy. Then with the door opened i saw the hinges. It actually pulled all the screws out of the door on all 3 hinges. I had to go find longer screws now to put the door tight back on the hinges. I am surprised the door just didn't fall off. It's a good idea but not here I guess. The tool is made very well. Holds up to pressure. The cost of it is reasonable if it WORKED.

A hinge adjustment tool is an ok addition to any tool set but this one misses the mark in a few spots. The included hinge "grabbers" come in four sizes but I found two of them to be slightly "off" in size, both too large. They would be more effective and have more leverage with less effort if they fit the hinges snugly. The handle isn't uncomfortable, though it's nothing more than a bar with a grip. Lastly, these types of tools don't work particularly well on hinges that are too close to the door casing, so it's worth making sure you have 1/4" or more to play with before ordering the tool at all.

This kit is amazing and much better than a lot of alternatives. Comes with variations of sizes and it is super sturdy yet maintenance to its durability. Super easy to change the head to a different size but it's still secure after replacing it with another head. Highly recommend it.
